Go through the complaints procedure outlined in post one of this thread and do it soon as otherwise, I suspect this could turn nasty. You don't want either Vodafone or Onecom claiming that you have entered a new contract as this ma tie you into a further period.
  • Something in my gut told me I was making a mistake when I was on the phone to the 2nd Onecom agent after being cold called about a Business Telecoms deal.

It sounded too good. Unlimited Texts and Calls, 32gb of data (I was currently on 3gb of data and never got anywhere near to using it so I didn't need this), they'll pay my old contract with EE off and it would be near enough half what I was paying. However, I was checking out their Onecoms reviews and ratings whilst on the phone to the agent and put my gut instinct aside and took the deal.

I received the SIM and after some faffing from Onecom, they eventually told me to ring EE who were incredible at helping me get my phone unlocked to use the Vodafone SIM. This is when the first issue started. I no longer had Wifi Calling.

I let Onecom know and after lot's of back on forth which basically resulted in me turning my phone and off again multiple times, they found out from Vofadone that when you unlock a Samsung S8 the Wifi Calling Option disappears. Living in a rural village with little to no signal anywhere (despite what Vodafone will claim) means it crucial that I can run my business calls over Wifi.

I had explicitly said to the agents that I needed this option and was not advised by their agents that by unlocking my phone I would no longer be able to use this. I now have a phone that I can't make phone calls from and calling clients from Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger isn't exactly the most professional way to conduct a business.

Then, it came to paying off my old contract. I was told by EE that this would cost £481 and Onecoms first agent said that this would be covered by them... fine.

I sent Onecom the bill from EE when it came through and Onecom sent me the money fairly swiftly... £381. £100 less than it had cost me to get out of the contract. So at this point, I'm £100 down and with a phone that doesn't work. When I contact them to ask why this was the case, here was the response.

Regarding your query of how much was agreed for your early termination fees, we have had the call listened to and can confirm that it was clear that the ETF had come in at £481 and that you would be responsible for £100 which was your last month's bill and this month's bill, and that you would also be responsible to pay for any call overspend. The agent then advised that Onecom would pay the remainder of £381 excluding the VAT which was agreed by yourself.

This is from their second agent who honestly said so much so quickly I didn't fully comprehend... however my mistake, I wasn't born with superhuman hearing and I was two different things by different agents.

Then my first bill comes through... £45. Literally, £3 less than what I was paying for my EE contract which came with a phone. Why would I change my contract to save £3 a month when it didn't even come with a new phone...

So I emailed them again (we have a great dialogue going as they're still trying to get Wifi Calling on my phone despite the only reasonable solution being to send me a new phone). I asked them why my bill was so much. Here was the response.

With regards to your bill coming in at £45.42 this was due to pro rata as your bill ran for an additional date from 02.10 - 02.11 hence the additional £1.42 on top of your standard price plan. Your November bill will run from 03.11.02.11.

So my monthly is £44???? For a phone that doesn't work, £100 down on my early cancellation fee and I'm paying £44 a month for this for the next 36 months??? !!!!!!

I have sent them what little I have that constitutes as a contract which actually shows that my package £36 a month... a little more than the £25 promised by the first agent.

However, I'm done, they've messed up far too much, lost me a phone, lost me business, lost me the ability to speak to my partner when she was getting some horrific personal news.

How do I get out of this? I'm so frustrated and disappointed with the lack of transparency, honesty and basic good business practice from Onecom. Although it must be said that the customer service rep, whilst they haven't been able to actually resolve anything, has been very good at responding to my complaints.

It'll be a business contract. Onecom has been doing this for years (search the forums). That means you have no cooling off period, the price excludes VAT (hence the uplift) and it may even be a 36 month contract you're tied into. I doubt you can go to an Ombudsman (after complaining) either if it is indeed a business contract.

Since you state that "it seemed too good to be true" in the first paragraph you really should have done your research and asked all the questions first - as well as having got it in writing beforehand.

You're in a business contract. What does that say about getting out of it? Consumer laws can't help you here I'm afraid, you'll be assumed to have entered the deal with 'both eyes open', as a businessman.

Even if it is a business contract you should still be able to go to the ombudsman. I've done it with both BT and Vodafone (Business).
  • Reading all these comments about onecom has confirmed my feelings that I have been scammed.
Onecom contacted me saying that I'm a VIP customer and I that I qualify for a early FREE upgrade. And as a business owner (single sole trader) I am entitled to more benefits and cheaper tariff. I had ed even thought of upgrading and wasn't really interested but they insisted that they pay the termination fee with my current supplier so I may as well as it's no cost to me. So i go with it. Then they said I must get the PAK code which I then tell them as that will be hailed as the EE contract is in my mums name and she isn't with me at this time. I told them I will be able to get it within the next day which I did. During this time I realised I was pressured into a upgrade . I'm happy with my current phone a d didn't want to go ahead with it. They then tell me I cant not go ahead with it as I've agreed to a 36 month contract with them and as a business owner (I only work in beauty self employed) that I have no cooling off period rights. I tell them I'm trying to make cut backs not increase my outgoings and they agree to offer me sim only contract. So I thought well this is better than paying £60 per month. I was told it would be £20 per month for sim only. They took over 2 weeks to send the sim to me and 2 weeks for a email. There isn't stated that they will charge £37 per month with a £17 reimbursement for 17 months then it goes back up to £37 month. I'm really not happy. I feel I've been conned. I want out. I haven't even opened the sim. They really did the hard sales pitch on me. I don't want this please help.

What sort of contract ??Business ?? Upgrade .
  • Hi. We have also been scammed by onecom. They will not cancel my contract even though it has not yet started. They will not answer my emails and when we phone they say the same thing. It's a business contract and I can not cancel. I am now with out a phone line as I have not received the Sims. I work for my self and now no one can contact me. Vodafone please sort this I am at my wit's end. I can not afford onecom and I certainly can not afford my business to collapse because of them. Onecom are going to cost me thousands of pounds to pay them to get out this contract. If my business folds. I will be left destitute and that will be the end for me
Please help me Mr Vodafone x
