How did you manage to get in a que? I’ve called over 20 times today and go through the automated process only to be told call back another time!

Just 20 times? Took me 130 attempts over a 20 min period on Tuesday. Keep trying but I would give up for the day now tbh.

Oh and it is "queue". Que is almost the Spanish word for "what".

If you accept a voucher and then TUI did go bust, does ATOL give the same protection for a voucher as they do for a holiday booked?

If the operator does not renew their ATOL when it is due then the answer is no.  As yet the CAA have not actually confirmed that the IOU's have ATOL protection. https://www.caa.co.uk/News/UK-Civil-Aviation-Authority-reviewing-airline-refunds/

So 100 previous "yes" answers aren't 100%, watertight, correct. Not quite yet anyway!

Is that what the link actually says?
It takes me to this text - which seems to be about right to refund.
It doesn't seem to mention anything about IOUs

The UK Civil Aviation Authority has a track record of standing up for consumer rights and will continue to do so. We are reviewing how airlines are handling refunds during the coronavirus pandemic, and will consider if any action should be taken to ensure that consumer rights are protected.

Under the law, consumers are entitled to receive a refund for their cancelled flights, despite the challenges the industry is currently facing. We support airlines offering consumers vouchers and rebooking alternatives where it makes sense for the consumer.  But it is important that consumers are given a clear option to request a cash refund without unnecessary barriers. We expect airlines to provide refunds for cancelled flights as soon as practically possible, whilst appreciating there are operational challenges for airlines in the current circumstances.

We have published guidance and advice for both industry and consumers and we continue to engage with airlines on this important issue. We do not expect airlines to systematically deny consumers their right to a refund.

If TUI do not renew.their ATOL license then they would not be legally allowed to sell package holidays.

Unless they came up with their own scheme to bond customer's money, by not having an ATOL they'd be de-facto winding up their package holiday operation.

No, they are not protected ( as of yet)   no matter what anyone has said.
The Government and CAA (who back ATOL)  have so far refused to say they are backed.

I had an email from First Choice on 1st May (last refund deadline) stating "I'm really sorry, and appreciate how frustrating this must be. I can assure you that we are in the final stages of testing and your refund credit will be with you by 15 May 2020."
Was sort of expecting another postponement but got no update yesterday (15th May). Did anyone else get a deferral from 1st to 15th May, and have you heard anything more?
