Can vouch for Shiply, have used multiple times in the past and it's a fantastic service - just make sure to read the reviews and feedback of a company before you choose them!

As an owner of a Removal company I spent all day yesterday trying to get clarification , The BAR changed its mind a few times ( we are not a member ) . Our concern was we had people booked in who were too far along the process to postpone their moves and of course would be left high and dry in movers cancelled . I spoke to several other removal companies who were much in the same boat . We finally got the advice from the RHA , to continue the moves for those who were already at exchange and completion which takes us , and the other companies  to this Friday . We have taken as many precautions as possible , including telling our customers to sanitise , have only 1 member of the family at home , and then to keep their distance
We will be stopping removals at end of play Friday , until we have clearance to start again , any customers whose goods are in store will not be able to access or retrieve any items  12 members of staff to be stood down

It is still a grey area , and I suspect some of the smaller man with a van companies will still operate , but we have a duty of care to our employees

We have just had our mortgage offer and the solicitors were just about to get started on searches.
I've had an email from them today saying there are postponing all transactions which have not yet exchanged until the government relax their current restrictions.

I see no reasons why they should completely pause everything if you are still motivated to buy the place. Some things will need to wait and you won't be able to exchange, but they can still get quite a lot done working from home to put you in a position to exchange quickly once restrictions are lifted. If you're not happy with everything being placed on hold, I'd push them or find a new solicitor.

Agree with the above. We are approaching being in a position to exchange, and our solicitor still pushing ahead. I'm hopeful that in the next month or so there will be some sort of solution / the lockdown is eased, and if that is the case, it won't be the end of the day, just another month in rental. There is a lot of the conveyancing process that can still take place in my layman's view, and it seems a bit black and white for them to just down tools.
