An over 70 relation had booked in his car for service and MOT - the garage has offered to send a mechanic to collect it so that he doesn't have to queue in the service centre.6

My husband went out in this morning's sunshine and took photos of our next door neighbours Spring flowers. She's 96 and can't get down the garden on her own. He printed them out and we popped them through her letterbox.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. So far neighbourly help in our street in the form of:
- an oven heating element (my oven died Sunday night - within an hour a neighbour had popped the spare round and it was fitted! AMAZING)
- bird fat balls being left out in a box to pick for families with kids or elderly - watching the birds will be nice
- two packs of anti-histamine from a neighbour with a glut (seeing me through till my order arrives, I have terrible hay-fever and everyone was thinking I had the flu virus )
- Endless offers of help on our village facebook page

Yesterday evening there was a knock on the door; when I opened it, a woman proferred me a tray of eggs, saying that they were a gift in the light of egg shortages in the local shops. This was from Border Eggs, a large local producer of organic/free range eggs. They were going round all the local villages giving out trays of eggs. An eggscellent idea!(copied from another post in Praise Vents and Warnings, someone suggested I posted it here)3

We have an elderly lady on our block, and currently at least 4 different households are doing her shopping for her! Never reallu had a sense of community here, but that certainly went a long way to build one, and she is so thankful it's lovely to see!3

I was in the garden this afternoon and my neighbour with two of her children were kicking around a football. She said that she had planned to bake a cake with the children today, as an activity for them, but couldn't get any eggs. I gave her two eggs from my box in in the kitchen.

I'm self isolating - like everyone else and can't get to my hairdresser. I know she works part time and has a family so I have decided to pay her a 'loyalty retainer' because this might be the only income she depends on to pay her own bills. I'm doing the same with the window cleaner and the gardener. They're all self employed and must be going through hell right now trying to figure out how they will survive this awful time. Support your local small business. Give them a LOYALTY RETAINER PAYMENT. ❤️ Thank you Martin and the team. You're awesome ❤️6

I mentioned to an Asda worker that despite not being a morning person (!) I had been to the 7 a.m. pensioner shopping session at Sainsburys that morning but hadn't been able to get pasta (for 3 weeks). She asked me what I needed and told me to see her the next day. She had saved me a packet of farfalle and conchiglie from that day's delivery. I was both touched and grateful.

The local Aldi store manager, when his daily shift has ended, is shopping and delivering groceries to elderly and vulnerable people in the area. What a star6
