Refund from Hoppa re cancellation

  • I am also in a similar position. If I cancel the booking online, I will automatically be accepting a "hoppa  credit" which I do not want. The company are refusing to refund me , back onto my credit card. This is a shame, as we have used them before, and they have been really good. Unfortunately, I won t be using them again because of this. I will continue to chase my money, and if necessary I will be requesting a chargeback from my credit card. Meanwhile I will be taking to Twitter and passing on my views......every day for as long as it takes.

Any update on claims for refund?
I have sent in another claim with PayPal (my second claim with PayPal now).
Got to wait and see what happens this time. I used all your comments to try to encourage them last time to put the claim through but they were adamant my reasoning was not enough. I ended up googling and finding the old terms and conditions and I’ve sent those to PayPal. If this doesn’t work I am truly stumped 🤔 . I’ve spent hours and hours fighting, messaging over and over and I will have to admit defeat. It’s aggravating that some people get the refund and some don’t but hey, life is unfair at times. I need to accept that and stop it getting to me and move on if I have to.

Have you quoted my case as a reference for fairness to be applied it is exactly the same reasons, if you don’t win, I would do a chargeback against PayPal through your bank

I didn’t quote your reference number but when I said to the agent that other people are getting refunds for the same thing he said that he can’t comment on individual cases blah blah blah. As for the chargeback I don’t think I can. I tried to do a chargeback against Hoppa first and I couldn’t do it. Might it be because I paid on debit card rather than credit card? 🤔

You can do a chargeback on a debit card. I have just done one for reclaiming a ryanair flight paid on debit card. Barring any issues, the card provider said it should be in my account by Monday. Seems quicker than credit card claim I did for our holiday, as still haven't heard anything back from that yet (over a month ago).

The chargeback would be against PayPal as you paid using PayPal I think

yes, probably. Don't care, as long as I get my refund (hopefully).  :). Still annoyed about the hoppa non refund, as cannot do a chargeback through that, as it was paid from a paypal balance. Think I have run out of options trying to get my refund back from hoppa unfortunately.  :(

    Hello,
Just to add my name to this Hoppa list. Like everybody else I booked at a time where the terms and conditions stated I could cancel at any time prior to departure (subject to a £1 fee).  In fact I did cancel in late January to change hotel drop off (Hoppa told me to cancel and rebook rather than amend original booking), on that occasion they happily refunded.

6 weeks later, my flight was cancelled, I cancelled with Hoppa on their website about 3 weeks before departure and they refused to refund, having subsequently changed their terms and conditions.  Like everybody else they're only offering a voucher which I have no idea if I can use.

I now regret not booking using a credit card, I mistakenly used PayPal (via debit card) and so far PayPal are refusing to refund, despite the fact I have not received the service I originally paid for.   I have my original booking email but that doesn't actually state the refund policy on the email, other than to tell me to go to my bookings at Hoppa.  Does anyone happen to have a screenshot from what the website was stating earlier in the year about the full refund?

Whilst I am only out £33 which is not the end of the world, I don't appreciate Hoppa taking advantage and effectively withholding our money and changing their terms and conditions after we booked to suit them.

Sent them a pre-action letter, that might work in itself,  if not  file a court claim,  claiming  the money you paid minus the  £1 cancellation fee you agree to in their T&Cs when you booked.
