Heh, I'm out - I opened at 1574, closed a third of it at 1470, another third at 1512, and then the last third got closed for me on a guaranteed stop at 1730 this afternoon.  So overall a net gain of 10 units, which was £30.

But if I hadn't have done the earlier cashouts and the whole lot were to have been stopped out at 1730, the c.10% price rise since the day before results would have cost me about £1400. So your emoji would have been on point

Only one percent dilution to finance building a lot of new cars over the next few years. If it was VW, GM, Ford etc they would have to borrow.

Easier enough to convert debt into equity. If it's balance sheet presentation that matters. Raising capital comes at a cost. Interest on debt is at least tax deductible.

I suspect the Porsche-Piëch family don't really need to dilute their holdings in VW and it might even be advantageous from an inter-generational tax view to trade off virtually free money from debt against profits. Although judging by the title of Peter Daniell Porsche's  book  "There's More to Life Than Building Cars" I suspect he will take a different approach to running the company than his father.

Some big Tesla trades this evening after hours.
As in, $68M & $90M worth of shares at around $450 a time.
If its not Bowlhead, it may be index funds buying in ahead of S&P500 inclusion.
Meanwhile, still waiting for my share split shares to turn up in my HL accounts.

Baillie Gifford have reduced their holding in Tesla from 6.32% at the end of June to 4.25% as of yesterday although no breakdown in this piece as to which funds/trusts have been the biggest sellers, certainly some funds were likely forced sellers due to the price growth bringing the holding to more than 10% of the portfolio.

The price is moving a lot and some blame it on the DILUTION, but is it good or bad news?

Not a dilution. It's a capital raising exercise. Unless of course you decline the offer. The company continues to burn cash. Timing is simply opportunist to take advantage of a strong market.
