So pleased I have seen this forum. I'm due to fly on the 4th April to the US and have received the cashpoints email. I assumed they did this so wouldn't have to pay out, then someone told me about their financial troubles and it confirmed it. Assuming they aren't cancelling flights so they don't have to pay out which is very frustrating. I don't want to accept the points in case they go bust and become worthless and there's no guarantee when flights will go back to normal. I just want my money back so I can move on. Will hold out a bit longer before accepting anything.

I'm in the same boat. I'm guessing everyone is on LowFare flights, has anyone tried upgrading to Premium and then seeing if you can refund the flights once you are Premium?
I did wonder this... if booking a low fare option, can refund it if it's within 6 hours of booking (I read somewhere). Wondered if rebooked the ticket  for another low fare option then cancelled within 6 hours if that would work.

I would be very wary about accepting CashPoints.

They have announced that 3,000 flights being grounded until mid-June and large numbers of layoffs.  I suspect their longhaul services ex LGW will all be casualties.  For people seeking changes before they actually cancel a flight I suspect they will continue to offer CashPoints. If they however cancel the flight and can not offer a suitable alternative I think they need to offer an actual refund.

Norwegian will be cancelling 85% of their flights soon, personally I'm hanging on. If anyone upgrades, check with their cc company to see if this would invalidate section 75, never assume anything. Also has Norwegian already changed their premium refund criteria? Worth checking, might turn around and use some 'exceptional circumstance' clause.
  • To those asking about Premium tickets and refunds the simple answer is no. The do two tickets in that cabin - Premium and Premium Flex - only the latter is refundable.

  • Hi all
So glad to see this thread on the forum as I've had the email from Norwegian too even though I am not due to fly until September.  I booked on my credit card and again like many others do not want to accept their cash points as these are only valid for the year and also worried they may go bust.  I've been saving for this trip for 5 years :-(  I presume its a case of 'wait and see'.
  • I've been trying to cancel my Lowfare tickets to Malaga tomorrow and that doesn't seem to be possible anyway. I've tried numerous times, the page refreshes with

I don't think there's any choice but to wait (and probably lose your money)

You can't fly to Malaga even if Norwegian had a plane ready to take off. All of Europe is shutdown, Norwegian have no option other than to cancel your flight. I would contact your cc company and insurance to let them know you cannot get through to the airline.
