What is everyone doing with things like cleaners?

In that case surely you pay her the normal rate as a retainer, then she can start again once restrictions lift.1

My mother in law has asked her cleaner not to come at the moment, but still paying her.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"1

Just spoken to my cleaner and she is starting again next week. I've done my best but.....
She said she's bored and looking forward to getting back to it!0 -
Well it’s specifically allowed now, assuming neither of you has symptoms. At least the NHS will be a bit better prepared for the second wave than it was for the first.0

It is, indeed, allowed. And there are specific guidelines about how it should work. Not sure about the relevance of your second sentence. We will both take a lot of care and, of course, not proceed if either of us have any symptoms. Indeed, I may well go out and let her wok while I am not there0

I very much hope I’m wrong, but I predict that case numbers will start to rise in around a week, with deaths following soon after, sadly.1 -

And one of the press articles on the new instructions

I am not returning yet. I wouldn't be happy cleaning unless people are out atm and a few of my clients are family groups, so trying to distance with up to 5 other people in the house would be difficult. Another client is in the shielding group so won't be back with them for a while either. Atm I am looking at 1st June to get back up and running I think.

My cleaner started back yesterday and I was very pleased to see her! She wore a fresh mask and gloves and we remained in different rooms while she was here. It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.

Hello! Original poster here. Please to see this thread really took off!
I have been paying my cleaner since lockdown and am now going to allow her to come back as she is fantastic and I am fed up of the cleaning! The only thing is that with schools in this mess, she has said that she needs to bring her young daughter with her.
What should I do? I can understand how difficult it must be for her, and I want her to come back, but that said I'm a bit concerned about having more than one person in the house at the moment, even if her daughter is a good child, not to mention it is probably a breach of the lockdown rules. Should I also be insisting on gloves and a mask? I'd be going out while she cleans.
