My cleaner and I have agreed that we will let each other know if we have any symptoms and cancel her visit but otherwise she will carry on coming weekly.

    Yes

We spoke today and that's what we have agreed, too

"Things like cleaners"  -I thought that the OP was about cleaners (the products) - not the people!

I think as long as you are still getting paid you should pay the cleaner but not expect them to come round. Small business rely on the money and if you’re not financially suffering it seems right to continue to pay the cleaner.

Are you planning to go to a supermarket within the next 12 weeks? If so then carry on with your cleaner because you are more likely to catch something from a filthy trolley, gangs of toilet roll hoarders and kids that are now not in school...... On a serious note I do see your point. Our letting agent wants to do the six monthly check next week and I'm not keen on that, knowing they will have been in and out of lots of homes. Not sure where I stand really.

We're still having ours round on Monday - she's self-employed and as all parties are fit and well, it seems low-risk. As others have said, although we do have a natter when she arrives, we're mostly in different rooms for the couple of hours she's here, so I'm not concerned. I think it depends on your personal circumstances, just be sensible I guess.

Offer to do a video tour for them?

Just say no, it’s non essential contact and goes against the government advice.  If they turn up don’t let them in, and maybe cough a few times for good measure.

Our cleaner contacted us to say that she won't be in for at least the next 4 weeks. We would have been happy for her to continue coming but her partner was worried that she might catch something.
    It's not difficult!

  • We are usually at work when our cleaner comes so we weren't too worried. Sadly however this week it was a complete no show and I haven't been able to get hold of her. I can only assume that she has gone into self isolation. Hope she gets better soon as finding a good reliable ( normally ) cleaner is no easy task.

My gardener has texted with the measures she's planning to take: bringing her own flask rather than me making her a cuppa etc. I can give her a key to the garage so that she can access a power socket for cutting the grass. I'm hoping to have a distant conversation with her on her next visit about growing some veg ... I pay her online.

I'm starting to do my own cleaning which is somewhat overdue ...
