Where do we stand on being able to cancel BT and sky sports early as there’s no live sport being shown? Are they able to still charge the early release fee? Surely the contract is where they supply live sport and you pay the agreed amount, if there’s no live sport they can’t keep their end of the contract, therefore null and void??

Hi, I wondered whether MSE or any member knows of a mass appeal to Sky / Now TV etc to have everyone with a subscription or pre paid refunded the next month of Sky Sports?
with everything now cancelled until April this seems reasonable to me? But better as a joint effort / campaign?0 -
It seems unlikely, to say the least.
They'll still be showing what sport is available. They're not responsible for fixtures not happening.
It's also covered in their T&Cs.

It's completely out of their hands whether these fixtures go ahead or not - the risk you take paying for live sport services I guess unfortunately! I am in the same boat0

Now that a number of sports (including the football season) have been suspended due to the corona virus, sky can’t provide certain sport packages for a number of weeks. Does this break the contract I originally entering into?0

No it does not and i am surprised at the cheap and nasty users at this time of national crisis .

It's not an unreasonable question though ... and Sky have brought it on themselves by trying to monetise individual sports, especially the EPL and F1 by putting them on separate channels which require individual subscriptions.
(PS I don't have Sky ... in any form ... so I'm a neutral observer in this).2 -

Its not a good look for either Sky or BT Sports if they don't offer some sort of refund and hide behind that particular term. A change or cancellation to a singular event is something but when there is no live sports whatsoever for a long period of time it's another.
Bearing in mind that the UK's Chief Medical Officer yesterday specifically said NOT to cancel sports events as it could be counter-productive at this time.
Yes I think pressure should be brought to bare on these channels, we pay big money, they cant provide the service. They can then take it up with the sporting authorities (The Premier League can afford it), who are going against that Government advice. it shouldn't be the average person who has to pay. Rightly or wrongly its on their own backs.
IF the government advice is right then we wont be resuming sports on April 3rd and these two weeks may have been wasted and the situation made worse.
How long are people willing to pay for a zero service?
