Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?4 -
greenbee said:@oceanspirit - can you suggest some buckwheat recipes please? I have lots - toasted and untoasted - and find it claggy and uninteresting when cooked.
Several friends have my lists, so hopefully my supplies will be topped up at various points. Having been isolated for 3 weeks now I'm not keen to go out... but I'll have to start taking responsibility for my own shopping at some point.
Today's activity has been an online yoga class followed by a deep clean of the bathroom. I miss having my cleaner each week, but I am noticing where her blind spots are (these clearly include changing the water in the mop bucket, as the colour of the water when I mopped the floor in rooms that aren't used much was eye-opening - I think she's been spreading the dirt from the kitchen/utility evenly throughout the house!)Ask her to start her mopping in the far reaches of the house and work towards the muckiest bit (wish I could find some funny emojis ) LOL
I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.
happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy3 -
From personal experience at the moment. Please DONT use this time to do noisy diy. My neighbour is driving me to despair right now.9

Greenbee, we just had untoasted buckwheat as a rice alternative to go with stir fry then had it cold for lunch the following day, drizzled with flax oil and made into a rice salad alternative. It didn't go stodgy, but then I didn't cook it absorption method as was suggested but used lots of water and drained it (water went very pink). It seemed to have a buttery flavour with a bitter aftertaste. I thought it might do a good risotto alternative so might try that next week.

Greenbee - Squirrelgirl posted up a recipe for vegan "haggis" 2nd post down on this thread using buckwheat, which might help, and am sure could be modified with what you have.https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3571159/vegan-store-cupboard-challenge/p38

My neighbour is driving me to despair right now.I can’t face any other threads – I logon and there’s hundreds of replies to catch up on – and In Discussion they all know each other and have more than one name! And there’s a couple who post as their dogs! For someone who has reason to doubt their sanity sometimes, I find it reassuring that I’m not the craziest frog in the box.
Need to cut some pea sticks this morning! 😃 I haven’t felt this motivated to get up in the morning and get on, since I was last working 4 years ago!
The whole world has gone to !!!!!! but I found a happy place! One of my biggest concerns for the last couple of years is this awful work capability assessments! At least that’s been delayed for the time being. The anxiety is so deeply ingrained though that I actively have to remind and reassure myself that I don’t have to worry about it this week.Anyway I’m limiting my online participation - what was once a lifeline is now intrusive and time consuming.
Have a great weekend everyone - stay well! Mind, body and soul! ❤️9 -
Something quite extraordinary has just happened. I have just had a sizeable box of groceries delivered to my door - for free - and the delivery driver explained that it was “from Boris”. I am in the extremely vulnerable category and not supposed to go out, and I registered on the gov website. I thought this meant I might be given priority delivery slots with a supermarket, and it might still mean that, but the note inside the box said I would be receiving this box once a week going forward.
The box contained all sorts of goodies - potatoes, oranges, fresh pears, sliced white bread, tinned tomatoes, tinned peas, a pack of spaghetti, tinned peaches, corned beef, tuna, Heinz tomato soup, tea bags, coffee, a jar of Homepride pasta sauce, shower gel, and 2 toilet rolls!!
I’m a bit speechless and emotional right now.23 -
