Pickled Onion - re the problems with food and I expect you've got the same sort of thing going on in your area. But, in the area I live in, the new local Coronavirus Facebook page has had owners of various local cafes/etc say that they will do their meals as take-aways (to be fetched at the counter) and/or they will deliver them (even if they never have previously). It seems to be getting the "new norm" here for this sort of business to say you can order from their menu over the phone/pay over the phone/they will often deliver.

That's my own worst case analysis thing, ie if I couldnt buy my own foodstuffs for whatever reason. I would just reach for my phone and my credit card and deal with it that way. Can't say I'd fancy the thought of having to pay out the extra for my meals and would not be a happy bunny at the thought of my food bills for the duration if I had to do that, but "if need be" it is reassuring to have that as a possibility.

The end of civilisation as we know it........🤣🤣

  • It really is crazy how bezerk the world has gone.
I genuinely struggle to get my head around it.

I hope I don't see someone with a trolley load of TP.  Awkward.  I would feel it my civil duty to call them out, but tbf, a person would have to be pretty brazen to do that in the current moment...so I would quietly grumble to myself whilst feeling a bit scared

Little query - can't get through to Tesco to ask it.

In view of the fact that other supermarkets have introduced "pensioners and the vulnerable" shopping times - can anyone tell me:
    a. What times/days this applies to Tesco
    b. What the agegroup is. Is it 65 plus or 70 plus?
Or have they not started this up yet and, if not, any idea when they will do so?

    Hi MoneySeeker1
I received an email from Dave Lewis, Tesco CEO today:
From Thursday 19 March we will start to implement the following changes:
To ensure our more vulnerable and elderly customers can shop in-store, we will prioritise one hour every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning between 9-10am (except in our Express stores) and ask that you respect this.

To ensure more people have access to everyday essentials, we are introducing a storewide restriction of only 3 items per customer on every product line, and removing multi-buy promotions.

    Regards
    Nile

We have Sky, Amazon Prime and Netflix so no shortage of telly viewing but you can’t do that all the time. Today we cleared out a cupboard full of old bank statements and photos. There were new home congratulation cards in there.  We’ve lived here for 29 years so you can tell the last time we delved into this space!  A pleasant nostalgic time was had looking at our kids (and us) when young.
We have also been into the loft and dug out chess, draughts, Scrabble, dominoes and the crib board. I also play online trivia games which keeps me very entertained.
We are still venturing out briefly to the shops and for walks but keeping distance from others.
