  • Ive heard that's good, I'll give it a whirl.  There quite a few series and films I fancy. I picked up some books from the library today, plus bought some pre loved books from amazon and the charity shop.

It was a lovely day today so I have been gardening, hopefully same again tomorrow.  I've also made a start on my paperwork sort out. Keeping busy.

At least spring is on its way.......
  • What films and series are you thinking of @helensbiggestfan?
I am literally losing my mind. but feel too rough to be doing much of anything at the min

  • Good morning everyone......

hope you are all in good spirits.

This week I have watched the following films so far, "Blinded By The Light"
,"Red Joan". "My Best Friends Wedding" and "Mad Money". As you can see all very different.  I have wide ranging tastes and I like to mix things up.....I don't watch soaps or reality tv, cooking programmes or talent shows.....although I sometimes watch Gogglebox.  I love some of the characters on there.

I like documentaries, I often find interesting bits and pieces on BBC 4 and Channel 4. And I love a good drama like Split or Line of Duty, Killing Eve, Handmaids Tale (although that was a bit bleak, even for me😂  I Have been saving up Peaky Blinders.....

I really love old Hollywood Movies, all the old classics. I can watch them over and over again.

I have access to Netflix, Plex, and Amazon Prime so I cant see me Running out of things to watch.  I also have loads of DVDS, books etc  I won't have time to watch and read everything I like.....it would take a lifetime. 😂

I also have loads of niggly little jobs to do round the house, new hobbies I would like to try.  Plenty to keep me amused.  I am going to try and use the next few weeks to be productive, to stay happy and focussed and not give in to feeling sorry for myself, just because I can't get out and about.

I am going to practice gratitude and mindfulness,  just living In the moment.

We are so lucky, we have technology at our fingertips to stay in touch with the outside world. Physical isolation might be difficult but we have tools and distractions to help us.

    We can do this.

You are right @helensbiggestfan  I need some of that sunshine outlook today and a kick up the pants I think.  I am feeling utterly peed off now. Day 8 of being stuck at home feeling rubbish, and all I am seeing is everything that I was looking forward to, being cancelled. Social Group, even an exam I have been preparing for, for about a year.
We have had a lot of difficulties over the last 7-8 years and not had a holiday, but we had booked a weekend away and now it looks like that won't be happening either. That was the final straw for me this morning and broke down in tears.
If you are self isolating round these parts, home shopping deliveries being just cancelled on the day of delivery, so can't even cook a decent meal or have toiletries that I normally take for granted - there is no other way of getting food or supplies
I know it is the same for everyone and I really do empathise. It is really bad for the mental health...all the personal stuff and then concerns and worry about friends and families health-wise.
It is really getting to me today.
Someone come and give me a kick up the arris before I dissolve into a pity party

  • I watching re runs if the westwing. Brilliant writing.

I am watching Chuck on Amazon prime. I want to watch the Americans after that.

For films I recommend films like Argo, pride and prejudice, classics like it happened one night, Fred Astaire films.
I've been reading a lot, novels and cook books. I also read history.
I might do a workout. I will feel better.
The laundry basket is sorted. If worse comes to worse I will do some ironing. 😆😂😂
  • ah bless you.

OK. Here's a kick up the derrière.....

Are you alone.  When you say "we" do you have a partner. If so, count your blessings.  Sorry don't mean to be rude but to just gently remind you of your good fortune. I would love a nice partner.  I do actually live alone......I'm a widow and I miss my husband more than words can say.

So for me and countless numbers of people like me, widows, divorcees, single people - isolation really does mean isolation.  Solitary confinement in fact.

I'm thinking of getting a rescue cat.

Will I turn into a mad old cat lady.....😂🤣.

I know that might not be an option for people who live in flats or bedsits but it is something I have been thinking about for a while. At least I would be giving an abandoned animal a loving home. And kitties are such fun.

One thing I have decided to do is phone a friend each day for a natter, not just the ones I see regularly but the ones I've sort of neglected for while - you know the ones you send a Christmas card to saying "we must catch up" but somehow life gets in the way and we never do.

Well Life won't be getting in the way now will it?😉.

So my advice.....for what's it width......pick up the phone and reach out.  I'm going to ring one extra person a day.

Are you well enough to do a bit of pottering.  Maybe tidy up some cupboards. Doing something physical might help, if you are able.  If not then dig out some nice comedies and laugh yourself silly.  Put on some loud pop music and sing along.  Belt out your favourites.

My friend just sent me a clip of Tom and Jerry.  It really made my day.......

Watch some Toons.....Toy Story, Tom and Jerry, Disney Movies.  Lose yourself in some old Hollywood Movies.

And don't forget you tube.....ted talks, motivational talks and videos.

    And switch off the news.!!!!

    Pep talk over.....😂

Thank you - I really needed that x

I put one some music and it has actually really lifted my spirits. Sorry i was just feeling unnecessarily sorry for myself, I  know there are others far far worse off.

I stopped looking at the news a few days ago, it really was making me anxious beyond words. I am very fortunate though and shall count my blessings

also since posting some small plants i ordered have arrived...Hmmm.... I have an idea lol

OOO did you? isnt it interesting how people find a different perspective with films. I really liked the Lowry movie, but I am a bit of a depressing type of person haha. My husband agrees with you - he found it informative but very very slow
