I had a problem back in January and sent this to the Chinese support team - I have a 3.6 Hybrid inverter with a 4.8kWh Pylontech battery. The Depth of Discharge setting was at 10% but during very cold weather (equipment in garage) I upped this to 15% via your app, as the battery was dropping down close to 5% overnight once power was used. I’ve now looked on the app and website and the option to change the DOD back to 10% has disappeared. How can I change it back now the weather is warmer?

discharge Cut off Soc has been hidden with end user account in UK by requesting UK distributor, please consult with your supplier.

Another instance of the UK team messing about with things and causing problems. My installer contacted the "three legged" one and told me they'd had many complaints about it. The option to change DOD setting was reinstated a few days later.

Nice to hear. I wonder if there is an unadulterated (international?) version of firmware with full access granted. I know internet routers often have the real firmware and then the plebs version of firmware with everything useful greyed out or plain deleted.

There's a challenge to someone with those skills, which unfortunately isn't me!
  • Some time ago I posted that my system would only Force export to the grid at 0.5 kWh.  After the latest saving session I contacted Lux China and they have reconfigured my system modifying settings I cannot access.  Will give it a go next saving session.

  • PolarSolar,

I too have the Hanchu ESS batteries (4 x 3.2) with the Lux AC 3600. How have yours been?

In six months I've had two of them fail, both with faulty cells, as remotely diagnosed by Chinese engineers after I contacted them directly as the UK distributor is pretty useless.
  • Had similar issue few weeks back.  Was unable to use the browser portal nor the LUX app to make any settings cos their server was not responding. Still out as I decided to go to bed so  set charge times on the LUX converter itself using its display panel & buttons. I managed to set several time slots to charge the batteries, which worked fine,   but was unable to set any LUX “Charge first / Charge Priority” settings using this panel on the LUX converter, they just didn't seem to exist,  which I thought was curious    (maybe I missed something)

You can log in to the Lux WiFi access point using a smartphone, where all of those settings are available, plus many more. As it's a local access point it is all independent of the Chinese server status. From memory, the WiFi SSID will start with "BA......."
  • I thought members might get a laugh from this... I got an email earlier today from my solar installer advertising HUGE DISCOUNTS on battery storage, so I asked them for some prices.

They offered me additional UHome 2.4kWh batteries for a mere £2600+VAT... each! 🤯

    I declined their offer 😂

I understand inflation has neen running high for the last year, but that price (if you include the vat amount) is more than 3x the original price at time of install we paid for 1x extra battery wow!

I did point out it was nearly 4x the cost per kWh of an equivalent Pylontech I found in a quick Google... I have to believe they made a mistake with the quote but they haven't been back to me to correct it 🤷🏻

  • A heads up.

I've been using Octopus Charge on the inverter to purchase Agile tariff power at the cheapest slots each day, currently three over night and two in the afternoon to (hopefully) beat the price hike at 16:00. If the sun shines, then the afternoon slots are not used or only used partially.

This has been working well until yesterday when I noticed it had purchased power at 18:00 at a cost of approx £0.50 per kWh. This I believe was/is being caused by the Octopus Charge program topping out at £0.35 per kWh and so is unable to determine which slots to pick once the price excedes £0.35. With todays (01/12/2023) price above £0.35 for practically all day, the Octopus charge program has picked 18:00 and 18:30 as the two time slots to use where the price is £0.55 and £0.50 respectively instead of the two cheapest slots at 14:00 (£0.35) and 15:00 (£0.36).

This I believe is a throwback to the time when even on Agile, the price was capped at £0.35, My Hildebrand CAD also displays the cap at the same level.

So it looks like I'll have to use manual control whist the prices remain above £0.35 per kWh.
