to the person with all the numbers as their user name .......... i tell you why its the first step to closing the scheme altogether its because the management have already stated they will not alter the existing final salary members for 6 yrs if they call off the strike. everyone keeps on about mr mcqueen ... no ones responding to my posts... sometimes the truth hurts and people avoid it. kmt who said the strike would be in the holidays? just out of interest a date hasnt been set yet so lets just wait and see before everyone starts spouting off ........my opinion is this will be sorted before a strike ever happens.......... lesley is right ....... no one cares about anyone else now days exept themselves ....... stratford u should no better but u probably dont its against the law to give a strike date when the votes hav not been counted........ even you can work that one out i hope.0

So what exactly are you trying to say here?
Firstly, the tosh you spouted about us actually wanting to find out if indeed we are going on holiday or if indeed we need to at least try and make a back up plan. Spouting off to a Neanderthal like you, common sense to the rest of us.
No one cares about anyone these days? No of course not, thats why you are planning to strike - isnt it? And thats why all us innocent travelers are taking loved ones on holiday, or visiting loved ones - some of whom it will be their last opportunity as previously discussed
Perhaps you should take you hypocritical useless spouting off somewhere where someone might actually agree with you.
You selfish t***0 -
Mr McQeen I have been reading your posts with great interest and have come to a few conclusions.Firstly with your attitude towards work I am surprised that you have held a job for so long.Your main reason for going on strike is because it is the hardest working period of your year with all those heavy bags etc.You also moan about a free gratis payment of £100.I am sure if you and your colleagues pooled it together some charity like Children in Need would be delighted to use it.And after you have spoiled all these working peoples holiday you could always brag that you did some good.0

We are the engine behind the airport, it's about time that the spanish management recognised that without us... there is no airport.
If I were a doing the same job in France I would retire on full sallary (not even a final sallary scheme like I get). Why do the people loading the planes not not deserve equal pay and conditions to the people offloading them?
I'm sorry people have to loose their holiday - but they need to stop being so selfish - there are more important things at play here than their reschedulable holiday.
Wake up and smell the coffee, do you think by striking you are going to gain anything? You lose days/weeks money and could even have your contract terminated?
I am sorry that you are not getting what you feel you should from your job, but,you have the right to go find a job that gives you all the pension rights you feel you need, but remember, You live in the UK, if you want French pension rights go live in France!
By stating "people need to stop being so selfish" you have lost any chance of any support I may have had for your plight, indeed, I work hard for my Holiday and I get extremley upset when arrogant people like you make statements like the one above.
I hope you have a lousy Christmas and a terrible New Year, Good Day Sir.0 -
To anyone that asks how people could strike over the festive period - I wouldn't have thought there would be much point striking in mid-March really????
The reason people strike when they do is for maximum effect -
train drivers - Easter, Aug bank holiday
postmen -Nov, run up to Christmas
British Airways - July/Aug
If you wanted to strike you would wait until it had the best chance of it succeeding, wouldn't you? I would have thought the pressure on BAA to solve this beforehand would be immense, so I wouldn't give up on your holidays just yet.
I don't work for BAA and would shudder at the prospect (no offence to anyone that does) but at the end of the day striking is legal so:
Either change your plans as someone else wrote earlier - fly from a non BAA airport such as Luton, Newcastle, Prestwick.
Wait it out and see if BAA back down.
Vote for one of the more extreme political parties that will shoot strikers on sight.
Good luck for your holidays. You can't go wrong with carpet bombing...0 -
My final word here, it really doesn't matter what any of you say. We are fighting to save our pensions and save our pensions we will.
Reading these posts, we will loose as much sleep about you, or anyone else loosing their holidays as you all would about us loosing our pensions.
But when BAA back down and we win, safeguarding ours and future worker's pension, I will enjoy my retirement and look laughing at my neighbour who worked all their life to make someone else rich.
Over and out.0 -
has any of these would be strikers responded to questions about why they can't picket their employers directly...?
It would:
a) Probably be classed as secondary picketing & illegal
b) ineffective as their employers would just go away for a few days
c) if they were all doing that they wouldn't be at work so the airports would be disrupted anyway0 -
Hi
