Does anyone know when we are likely to know what's happening? We are due to fly to Canada on Sunday, returning on january 3rd. I'm really worried about this because we are travelling with my severely autistic daughter and simply can't do massive delays at the airport. If january 3rd is affected we'll have to cancel our trip
How could you be so selfish ? Why not think about someone else for a change - like poor old Vermont 100 or Tony. Shame on you.0 -
Thank you.
Although it is extremely one sided. Only an impartial paper on the subject would really be worth its salt.
I agree, it's hardly impartial, but it does lay out the union's position which might be helpful for people to see. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -

Yeah I know, I will go and sit in a corner and think about it. I guess we have plenty more christmas's to spend with our 93 year old grandmother don't we
Very sorry vermont and tony for wanting grandmother to see the kids have a christmas (we could never travel with the youngest until now). We'll not worry about how excited all of the family is, how the kids have spent the last few months making little gifts for the family. I'll think of your pension if I have to tell them we can't go because we just can't risk being stuck in an airport with a child who tries so hard to cope.
Hope you have a nice christmas with your families though, I'll be thinking about you!:A

Just read this quote and thought this was apt for BAA workers;
"It's a bit like stupid turkeys voting for christmas"
Couldn't have put it better myself.0 -
sturll ........ i didnt think it would as easy to wind you up you really are taking the bait every single time and each time showing your true colours.......... not surprised you thought that was a one sided document you probably think george dubya is a great bloke as well........ whats wrong witha leaky caravan anyway........ much cheaper then 3500 pounds down the swanny....... now please dont respond your poor heart rate wont be able to handle it0

Thank you for the support LegalBeetle - I think most independant observers would agree she is being a little selfish in saying we should loose our standard of living in retirement just so granny can have a good christmas.
Though hopefully it will never come to that, all BAA need to do is promise to give a honest pension for all current and new UK airport workers in line with those of our european neighbours then we'll agree to end the action.... is to be treated equal too much to ask?0 -
Has anyone else noticed how TonyMcQueen, Vermont100 and Legalbeetle all write in exactly the same manner, the same style, prose, grammar - everything.
Further to that, has anyone noticed how they mysteriously seem to compliment eachother?
Or is it just me?
'Turkeys voting for Christmas' is great - Im thinking of 'clutching at straws' is another apt one.0 -
.... and if you speak to any other BAA staff member you'll also hear us speaking with 1 voice.
Though if I were Vermont I'd have thanked myself a few more times.0 -

Tony/Vermont
Ok, so some poor lady who probably has only a minimal amount of time left should forfeit seeing her grandchildren who have planned to see her so you can afford Carlsberg when you retire rather than Smart Price lager?
If you want to be in line with your European Friends then can i ask, since the freedom of Movement and Workers was introduced as part of the ECHR, then why not freely move to the European Country you model yourself on? Your argument is feeble and flawed. In Cuba Doctors are paid thousands less than here in the UK, should they strike too? All you do is lift a bag from one place to another - who the hell do you think you are?
£3500 down the swanny? (I assume you mean toilet?) Perhaps no one should ever want to treat their children to another country? Experience other countries, see their child's faces when they find out they are going to Disney World.
Or Perhaps we shouldn't want to lay on a beach and relax? But then hang on, if we didn't wouldn't you be out of a job?
You are the most hypocritical and thickest person i think i have ever come across. No one supports you. And you personally can thank yourself for having clearly been pivotal in ensuring that everyone on here knows just why you get paid a minimal wage for a mundane job. With muppets like you in the job it is clear to me now why i often have to wait lengthy amounts of time for my luggage to come. You are probably deciding whether to strike because someone says a bag is black when in fact its blue.0 -
Is this thread for real?
Some of the BAA posters will soon not need to worry about their pensions, the Romanians will be taking their jobs soon enough especially with some of the attitudes exhibited here.
I for one am 47 years old and have no pension having worked extensively in Africa and some of the charities over there. I will probably be working until the day i drop of my perch. But I sure as hell will have lived a much more fulfilling life than some on here.
You can bet your bottom dollar that BAA will not cave in on this one. My OH has already lost her final salary scheme and that is now the way of the world. Some of you lot need to wake up and smell the coffee.0
