BAA strike

Though hopefully it will never come to that, all BAA need to do is promise to give a honest pension for all current and new UK airport workers in line with those of our european neighbours then we'll agree to end the action.... is to be treated equal too much to ask?
To be frank I think that most independent observers would like to give you a good kick up the a*rse.
Even if the `end` you seek to achieve is laudable (doubtful), the means adopted to achieve that end seems to me little better than blackmail and bullying. But so long as you`re alright Tony, who gives a monkeys about the thousands of people who are distressed, inconvenienced and lose hard earned money as a result of your nasty little actions ?
What really grates is the pious masquerade that you`re acting for noble causes.0 -
Has anyone else noticed how TonyMcQueen, Vermont100 and Legalbeetle all write in exactly the same manner, the same style, prose, grammar - everything.
Further to that, has anyone noticed how they mysteriously seem to compliment eachother?
Or is it just me?
'Turkeys voting for Christmas' is great - Im thinking of 'clutching at straws' is another apt one.
Really ? Think you might be missing something here Sturll.0 -

after 30 years of work, my uncle has nothing.
i work in a old peoples home, and we get paid rubbish wages, rubbish hours, and the job at times is so soul destroying.
Should i go on strike at christmas, erm maybe, but what happen if i do, well i guess that the old people will be sat in wet, clothes and hungry, or maybe still in there beds.
yes i agree with voicing your opinion, but not at the cost of people like us who have worked hard all year, and saved hard, only to loose our holidays.0 -

As a worried traveler I have also been trawling the internet this morning looking for news.

On the above website they have mentioned a Strike from the 1st of Jan for 3 days. I'm unsure where the information came from or if it's true.
If anyone gets any firm news could it be posted here?0 -
Just been emailed this link
http://airport-blog.my-ani.com/node/93
It confirms that 65.44% voted for strike action. Not the full gone conclusion BAA staff through but enough.
Still no mention of dates.....0 -

the 1st of Jan is fine by me lol , we fly on the 29th dec and have a cruise booked on the 30th so any delay in flights wouldnt be good for us
even so i still have to stand by the rights of anyone to take industrial action0 -
It worries me that many on here are having a go at BAA workers for trying to preserve their rights.
Because many of us have lost our final salary pensions recently (which were promised to us when we started work) does not mean that others should suffer the same fate.
Companies always plead poverty when it comes to pension provisions and giving a decent pay rise yet find money to fund outrageous bonuses for their senior management as well as platinum handshakes when they get rid of them.
Maybe if people in all sectors used collective bargaining like the staff of BAA to threaten to withdraw labour we all might have better pensions and a higher wage.0
