I had cause to email the CEO of Sainsburys a while back with a complaint; it got dealt with quite quickly "from the Directors' office" - email address is:  mike.coupe@sainsburys.co.uk

It is quite likely that all the delivery slots are full with other customer's orders. Maybe they should have advised you of this & offered you a new delivery slot as soon as one became available.
My complaint to Sainsburys as I recall was that there were items missing from an online order for my parents that should have been delivered as was confirmed as coming; their customer services emails bounced back as no longer worked and at the time (was a few weeks back) getting hold of them on the phone was near impossible, if they answered they hung up. So I emailed the top man on their behalf, and then clearly got assigned a person to deal with the complaint, which they did resolve fine, and also had a working email address to liase with in the department.

Have not had a problem with Asda deliveries except for the out of stock items. Even now I find it hard to believe there are still so many out of stock items. On my order last week I had 5 substitutions out of my 38 item order. There were several more items I could not even put on the order because of no stock.  I could claim online for missing items, poor quality items and out of date or short dated items. When I was not allowed to give unwanted substitutions back to the driver I could claim for those too, ended up keeping the items and having the money refunded too

I expect different shops and different areas provide different levels of service.

I have been impressed with Waitrose -delivery is from the  Milngavie shop - all through the lockdown . (I was a regular customer before and got onto their priority list, )
Not much has been unavailable though I haven't tried to buy flour.

One of my neighbours uses Sainsburys now, having started as a new customer during the lockdown. She is very happy with the service. She lives on the third level of the building and there is no lift but delivery is to her door.

Another friend gave up trying to get an ASDA slot.

    Whoopee!
I am classed as extremely vulnerable and, as such, am still shielding.but after being refused a priority slot in April I have now received emails from both Ocado (whose website I have been unable to access) and Tesco.
Ocado tells me "We're giving you better access to the website" and at long last Tesco are offering me a priority slot.
What will I do?  I bet you can guess.

I think Ocado are offering "priority" slots to general customers. I placed an order with them once at the start of the year, not since, and got the same email a few days ago. I'm not interested in Ocado unless their prices were better and had more availability of stock. As to Tesco, I think you'll find their slots for priority customers are for an all day slot only, I think it is something like 8am-6pm; rather than a defined slot. Iceland offer "priority" slots it seems to customers who haven't ordered for a while rather than target customers (I think).

Ocado was the only supermarket refusing point blank to allow extremely vulnerable shielded people to shop with them, even though they were on the government list. It was not sufficient to have an account - it had to be sufficiently well used to satisfy whatever standard they were setting, and nothing would budge them from that position, even emails to the CEO.

A deeply unpleasant company to deal with, and they were even warned by Trustpilot to stop faking positive reviews to try to counteract all the negative ones they now get.  Expensive, horrible to deal with, and their idea of customer service isn’t in line with normality.

    £21 for a chicken?!

Tesco priority slots are 08.00-16.00, 10.00-18.00 and 14.00-22.00. I've been booking the 10.00-18.00 every 10-12 days and early on the morning of delivery they send a text with their intended delivery 1 hour time slot. They have always delivered early in that slot and I'm very happy with the service I've had from Tesco.

We were regular Iceland online shoppers before the pandemic and somehow got onto their priority list.

We haven't used the priority access as always been able to get a slot in the normal way when needed.

It's not just Ocado who were refusing those on the Government list,  As stated in my previous post both Ocado and Tesco refused to offer me a slot
Fortunately both Asda and Sainsbury's did offer me a priority slot.  I've used Asda in the main as they gave me a fixed weekly slot, no minimum spend and free delivery.  You have to spend £40 at Sainsbury's and the delivery charges appear to be higher on the whole than some other supermarkets.
As for Ocado and Tesco, they will not be getting my business in future.

I used to be a loyal Asda shopper in store as their prices are competitive and we have a large store nearby.
My wife is a diabetic and I work hard with my cooking to reduce her blood glucose levels down (i'm a good cook). When the Covid-19 situation happened, they didn't offer a priority slot, nor did Sainsburys, Morrisons or Tesco; however Waitrose did so we used them. We get most of our items from Waitrose delivery now (as haven't been to supermarkets since March), however also get the £2 delivery slots at Asda for cleaning materials and things cheaper than Morrisons (eg meat, fish); very happy with the arrangement.
What this has done though is show us that the little extra for Waitrose food is really worth it. We are now loyal Waitrose customers. With priority access we can pick from a lot of slots, free delivery, hour slots. After the pandemic ends (next year), we will remain loyal to Waitrose.
