Iceland have emailed me half a dozen times saying they have slots in my area and I can have priority access if I log in on certain days/times, but when I go to the site there are no slots available, so I'll just stick with Ocado who have at least been consistent and allowed the same amount of slots for everyone. At the start it was 14 days, then 10 days and now we get one a week. I still feel better not actually going into the supermarket. We went to Lidl on Sunday and half an hour after it opened the queue was already around the block, we were in the queue for well over half an hour. It was a bit chaotic, especially as they still have items displayed outside which confused the girl at the door no end!

We also have been given a priority booking from Iceland via email- 9am to 11am. When we logged on at 9am all the slots for that day were empty. It's been a godsend as we've only been able to get 3 slots from the big 4 since this started, 1 from Asda, 2 from Morrisons, 0 from Tesco. Iceland maybe don't have the range the others have, but they've helped keep us fed.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently
  • It probably varies area to area but I’ve had no issues booking a delivery with Iceland. Couldn’t get a slot with any other supermarket or service but Iceland have been great.

I've just logged on to Iceland and could get a delivery for tomorrow if I wanted it. Definitely worth people checking if they are unable to get slots elsewhere.

+1 for Iceland.  We've had several useful slots and feel looked after by Iceland.  We'll happily shop there in future.

Sorry, Sainsbury's.  Your lack of help is noted, and a lifetime's experience and one-sided loyalty are down the drain.

Indeed. Supermarkets who haven't got slots when people want them, haven't the stock when you've bought the online shopping, cancel your orders without any notice or just generally don't care will suffer at the end of this pandemic in a few months time. People will remember the good shops and the bad ones, that goes for local farm shops too. Weeks ago when eggs were a big problem, a farm shop we used to go to and spend a fair bit in were restricting eggs to half a dozen per customer, not caring if customers were buying for other people too; our local butchers got eggs in each week and they had policy of buying whatever you want and when it goes it goes as it's profit for them to sell stock - a far better attitude!  (I didn't need any in the end but it was good to know).

Ocado - abysmal and I won't be going back, though I had an Anytime SmartPass since 2012.
Sainsbury's - used them once for a delivery pre-lockdown and didn't like the no bags thing.
Morrisons - haven't had a problem getting a slot. When I've edited my existing order, I've been able to book another slot.
Iceland - no problem getting a slot and again able to book another order if I wished
Watts Farm - had one order so far, was really pleased with it. Not easy to get a delivery day
Abel & Cole - customer since 2012, been pretty useless eg no eggs since March
Riverford - clicked on forgotten password, got link, changed it and even though I hadn't ordered since 2017, was able to start getting boxes.
As for out of stock stuff, I've found it difficult to get eggs, interesting cheese (except from a dairy), Pepsi Max raspberry flavour.

    Nice attitude >:)
How about we all buy what we need and give other people the chance to eat?

Obviously however a household, especially if they are buying for elderly relatives too need more than a restrictive 6 eggs some places only offer customers; you need more like a couple of dozen. If you don't throw food away then you're being sensible, if you are then you are depriving others of the food you have wasted. I've barely thrown any food away for ages, had a couple of items that went nasty when got at the back of the fridge and got fridge-frozen, but that is about it. It's about planning your meals.

Eggs.. as a low carber, I am used to buying 2 or 3 boxes of eggs per week. Abel & Cole regular order since 2012 but on lockdown day, eggs didn't turn up, not had them since. Was pretty annoyed when I complained and got told that they were supplying people with regular egg orders, because that's me. For weeks, I could not get more than one box of mixed weight eggs per week from Riverford. Trying to get a delivery slot with Ocado was a nightmare and I managed just one from Waitrose. Switched to duck eggs and really like them. Not everyone will though. Reasons that eggs are in short supply can be attributed to more people at home having cooked breakfasts or omelettes for lunch, giving kids stuff like fried eggs and potato waffles for tea, plus all that cake baking.
