It is after all a money saving app, which should be ideal for a money saving site. It's not my site & I have no connection to the person who created it, other than to thank them for their efforts. I just find it a useful extra for comparing sites.Just a tip for anyone who's going to try it. It only works on matching text, so you need to spell correctly. You can expand the results a bit by adding a star*, so cake* would find both cake & cakesIt also misses some results, so by no means perfect. (search for birds custard & there's no Sainsbury's in the list, at least not when I use a PC web browser)And for yet another negative for some people, it only covers a limited ranges of stores. I think it's
- Aldi
- Asda
- Morrisons
- Sainsbury's (for some reason a lot of their results are missed)
- Tesco
Thanks for the mention. I have not really been maintaining it in the last month, and all of the prices are a week out of date. Recently Sainsburys is actively trying to block me from checking their prices and I have not invested any time into countering that. If only Trolley or Priceable had a way of sorting by price, I would feel comfortable shutting off Shelfscraper. It was only meant to last a few months whilst MySupermarket was resurrected!1 - Aldi

I used to use MySupermarket for comparing prices in high street shops (Boots, Tesco, etc.) for things like electric toothbrush heads.
I forgot about it for a while and have now found out it has been shut down.
Does anyone have a good suggestion for an alternative for high street shopping?
I tried Kelkoo but that didn't really have the high street shops on it, and there are some things I can't or don't want to buy online.
I am wading through all the articles and forums on here, but thought it quicker to ask!
Thank you lovelies. If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0 -
I've been using ShelfScraper but it looks to be not working at the moment.

Given the increasing pressure on personal finances, does anyone find themselves looking for better price comparison sites or apps?
Are there any recommendations for good price comparison sites or apps?

There is a list on the supermarket comparison page of the moneysavingcentral website, a uk website. Most are quite basic apps, but there are some web sites:
They seem to have missed Priceable.
From a quick review of the options Trolley (with new web interface) seemed best for my purposes.
Quick review of Trolley below mostly using the late lamented Mysupermarket.com as basis for comparison:
+ covers good range of shops inc all supermarkets except Lidl, boots and superdrug
+ search returns relevant products
+ brand, quantity, size and store filters offered
+ can find things by aisle
+ sorts in price and relevance order (but not combined)
+ allows you to save shopping lists
+ compares price for whole list
+ gives price changes for list, and bargains
+ compares prices for exact product ax supermarkets, and over time
+ being actively developed
- cannot order using it
- aisles very broad categories
- no price per unit weight sort
- price-based sorts can be a bit miscellaneous
- (but you can probably get round this to some extent by restricting searches by aisle and by quantity)
- lists don't have quantities
- lists are not assessed for heathiness
- list price comparison does not account for goods n/a from some supermarkets
- lists used to get deleted if you deleted cookies, but I think this may have been fixed as you can now create an account
Hope this helps a bit
