  • Back in January my sister and family invited us to join them in France in a villa they’d booked. Only cost to us was flights so I booked 4 Ryanair flights from Manchester to Marseille on 18 July.
My sister’s Ryanair flights on the same date but from Stansted were cancelled weeks ago so they have also cancelled the accommodation. My flights still seem to be going ahead but we now have nowhere to stay nor can we afford to book anything. Where do we stand? Any chance travel insurance (in place at time of booking) would cover this?

There's nothing stopping you from travelling on the flights you booked, so I'd say there's no chance that your insurance would stump up for your sister's decision to cancel the accommodation you were expecting to stay in, as this isn't an insurable risk.

I am currently in thailand  where I spend UK winters our ret flights where cancelled on 6 april I  have a property here so we decided to stay, as very litle covid !9 heremutch lower than in uk. I just re ticketed my return flight  for 13 july with qatar booked though Travelbag and was not charged a penny to do so, on try re ticket girlfriends identical cancelled flight  booked through Travelpack  they are wanting me to pay £74 supposedly for difference in fare+tax charge by airline+travelpack processing fee of £25 .wont be using them again is this legal I message Qatar but had no reply

I guess you're seeing the difference how two 3rd party ticket sellers deal with global issues.

Qatar may not discuss it with you as you are not their customer.
Travelpack is their customer - they made the booking with Qatar.
    You are Travelpack's customer.

  • I have a family trip booked to Disney Paris on 26th July we booked this independently and sadly on a debit card not credit card.
we actually do not want to go on this trip I am not comfortable taking my children there with all these restrictions in place.
we fly with easyJet but their website is saying they are not currently flying to Paris until September, so are we entitled to a refund on this?
our hotel was booked through booking.com and the hotel has said we are not allowed to refund or amend our booking we either go or cancel and the cancellation fee is the full hotel cost is there anything we can do about this?
we now might not have flights and the hotel won’t let us cancel or amend we have booked the explorers hotel?
any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It's basically the same for the flights as the hotel, i.e. if they go ahead but you choose not to occupy your seats on them then you lose whatever you paid for them, but if the flights are cancelled by Easyjet then they're obliged to refund you in full (but have no obligation to cover your hotel costs).

You won't be alone in choosing not to travel but it's your decision not to do so, so neither airline nor hotel is obliged to give you anything back if you cancel.  Your travel insurance may cover the hotel costs if the flights are cancelled by Easyjet though....

Where do you fit into this?  If your parents had to make their own way back from Perth after other flights were cancelled then they should seek recovery of the associated costs from the travel provider they'd originally booked with (airline or agent, as applicable) - if they're a UK provider operating under UK legislation then they are on the hook for those.  As a last resort, if they fail to get those back then they can supply evidence of that to their insurer, who may be able to step in, but expect resistance if the travel provider should be paying up.

If it's a different scenario, feel free to explain more fully....

Why didn't you just confirm that they'd actually got your correct email address and ask them to resend the email?
