Thanks.    I had a PayPal micro Account so paid slightly less.     The issue will come in February if they cancel the “special offer”.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D

I paid for something on eBay yesterday via Paypal and noticed the email from Paypal said "You authorized a payment of £xxx GBP to eBay".  It normally says the name of the seller rather than eBay so does that mean this seller has been migrated to eBay/Adyen payments?

    Yes I’ve had this too.

Hi all. I did search but was unable to find an answer to my query.

    I sell infrequently on eBay and listed some items last w/e (using the £1 fvf offer).  When I've checked my account today, I have the following message;

"Getting paid on eBay has changed. Update your account details now to ensure there is no interruption to your selling"
This message wasn't apparent when I listed stuff, so primary payment method is still paypal.  But it appears that in future, payments will be direct to my bank account? So do I update now and if so, how does this affect my current listings? Also, is there any potential  impact on seller/buyer protection?
Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, for some reason my brain's struggling with this one!😞

I've merged several threads as I think the managed payments question is likely to keep cropping up .

Don't know how it affects current listings. I got the email about switching payment system and I'm waiting til next week for a few of my auctions to end their first listing period first.

But managed payments means the transaction takes place in eBay and your money goes into your eBay account instead of your PayPal account. Then you can decide if you want eBay to pay to your bank account straight away, or group the payments and pay to you weekly.

For the buyer it won't be too different, they can still pay using credit/debit card or via PayPal but can also use Apple/Google Pay directly in the App too.
As far as I know, no changes to buyer or seller protection.
Biggest change is how you pay fees, instead of 2% plus 30 to PayPal and then a monthly invoice for the 10% to eBay, the 12% plus 30p will go directly to eBay when they process the payment from the buyer.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the info (and for merging,  soolin!) I think I'll wait for the current listings to end, then update the account - just to keep it simple (hopefully!)

When you update your details it doesn’t switch you straight away, it just puts you in a queue . When it is your turn to be switched you get warning.

  • I'm looking for some advice about ebay's new managed payments system. I am a private seller, not a business.
If I sign up for ebay's managed payment system and a buyer pays by paypal will I be charged fees by both paypal and ebay?
I've seen quite a few complaints about the payment system on MSE forum. Have things improved? Are there people out there ( particularly private sellers) who it is working well for?
Also there's talk of people being given deadlines to sign up for managed payments or having their accounts frozen. I don't think I've had an email about it (although it is possible I deleted it thinking it was some kind of scam email). Everytime I go into myebay now there is a message across the top saying I need to update my details for managed payments. How long do you get to before they freeze your account? Am I best off signing up now, or waiting until they force me to? Thanks
