Possibly but it's meant I rarely pay for postage so it's probably saved me a fair bit over time and I find it's usually less effort to request an application pack be sent out than it is to print the form off so there's probably an element of laziness on my part too.subjecttocontract said:
Isn't that taking money saving efforts to the extreme ?Bridlington1 said:
You can send them a message on their website and request an application pack be sent to you. I've done this twice now and on each occasion an application pack has arrived a day or two later with prepaid envelope to one of their branches. It comes in a large envelope which can be cut carefully into a single sided A4 sheet of printer paper.allegro120 said:
6.1% is good, but I have to give it a miss. My printer doesn't print and my nearest branch is about 30 minutes drive from where I am and "no online anything" amounts to a faff I'd rather avoid. Depositing £3k into 6.2% NS&I bond instead would be a better option for me, takes about a minute and you start earning interest on the whole sum straight away.chris_the_bee said:
Also has to be operated by post or branch. No online anything.Kazza242 said:Mansfield Building Society have launched a new regular saver, called Kick Start Regular Savings (7th issue), paying 6.10%
Pay in between £25 - £250 per month. Minimum opening amount £25. Maximum investment £50,000.
It is available to existing Members (with a minimum of 1 years continuous membership) and/or Locals (Resident in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire or South Yorkshire.)
Open via Branch or Post.
It permits two penalty-free withdrawals per year (including closure).
The interest rate is fixed at 6.10% for the first 12 months. After that it will revert to 4.25% variable thereafter.
Further details here.
As for recycling the envelope, it doesn't take very long at all and it gives me something to do whenever I'm on hold to a bank/building society.5 -
Have you ever thought about a career in stand up comedy ?.......I think you could do quite well.1

My accounts have been 'pending' for week now & I have no idea how long I will have to wait !Over62 said:
Once you have your account number, you can add the account manually. It will show as Pending for a day or two and then show as a normal account. As allegro120 states above, if your deposit was sent as soon as you had the account number, the amount will show when the account is upgraded from pending and will have the date backdated to when you sent the deposit.liamcov said:Monmouth 8% - had email saying 'An account has been added to your Online Banking profile. Please log in to view the details' but nothing showing online - any ideas?
I've got to try and adjust my expectations to 'Monmouthshire Time' .......apparantly this is a slower artificial readjustment of real time by a factor or 4 or 5 and can be extremely annoying.

If you've paid in then your money is safe. I live in a very rural part of the UK and we have local time, much more extended than 'manyana'. It's life.

Re. MBS - as a new customer, opening the 7% RS, then on Monday this week registering for My Accounts, I received an email this morning saying 'An account has been added to your Online Banking profile. Please log in to view the details ' - when I go to My Accounts, it asks for a user ID, which I don't think I have? Is this still to come, via their usual snail mail procedure?
EDIT: Just noticed an earlier email from them saying that an activation code will be sent in the next few days...0 -

Have you made a deposit? It will remain as pending until it is funded.subjecttocontract said:

I'm aware of that.
Payment was made on August 31st by bank transfer.
Yes, I did follow the instructions contained in the passbook......I've got other MBS accounts so know the drill.
Obviously it's gonna remain pending until MBS get around to it.......they have their own unique time frame that follows the mantra of 'why do it today if we can put it off for a week or so'. I love MBS, but I do so enjoy complaining.0 -
Worrying I've done something wrong now, as a couple, both non-Monmouthshire customers, we opened a new Easy Saver in joint names. All online, nothing to post anywhere.Signature declaration arrived within 3 days, returned same day then 5 days later our passbook arrived. Now we've regisitered for our online banking, made a deposit and opened an Exclusive Regular Saver each. Nothing to print so far, envelopes provided and everything...

Well if you're aware of it what was purpose of your post if not seeking advice? You say have MBS accounts so know the drill yet in all the accounts I have had with them it has never taken 7 days from sending a deposit to a "pending" account for it to no longer show pending and have the deposit credited, the longest has been 3 days. If this is normal for your accounts they are either doing extra checks on you or you're regularly extremely unlucky!!subjecttocontract said:I'm aware of that.
