It should be on the inside front cover:silvercar said:MonBS pass book has arrived, but I can't see where to find the sort code/ account number so I can arrange a SO from my current account.

Thank you! I didn't think of looking in the passbook. Presumably there is no verification from my bank that the account name matches my account name?Bridlington1 said:

That's an HSBC sort code. With account name "Monmouthshire Building Society" you should get a match. Then MBS use the reference number to move the funds to your account.

The bank you're sending the money from won't know the account belongs to you. Use the payee name "Monmouthshire Building Society" and select business account. This should come up as verified. When typing the sort code in it should come up as HSBC. The payment will probably take a couple of days to show in the Monmouthshire BS internet banking but the interest will be backdated, just make sure the reference is your Monmouthshire BS account number without dashes.silvercar said:

Thank you all. Luckily I sent my initial cheque for £200, so I can't make another payment until January.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Saffron BS Small Saver
There seems to be an error on the first page in relation to this account. This is not a members only account; the account is open to everyone over 16 in the UK.
(Saffron also offer another regular saver, i.e. the Members Regular Saver, which is only available to "members who have had an existing relationship with Saffron Building Society for the past 12 months" but this only pays 3% interest, so this doesn't qualify for inclusion on p. 1).1 -
Coventry First Home saver has been withdrawn and is now a closed issue1

Just opened a Principality BS Christmas 2023 Regular Saver Bond. Max monthly amount is £125. pays 5% fixed for 1 year.
I don't know how I missed it in the discussion, but I saw it on the first page. It took under 10 minutes to set up and open. All online so I have my account number. A lot easier than a neighbouring BS who required me to wait for a passbook to arrive and send a cheque!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
