The date your cheque was registered on your account is the date your 1 year account starts. This will be no more than 3 working days before the cheque was cashed. The earliest you can make the next payment is therefore Jan 1 - but they will probably not credit that until Jan 3Snapdragon said:
I'm similar dates to above but heard nothing yet. Having applied in Nov (cheque dated Nov) but cheque cashed 15th Dec, does that mean account was 'opened' in December and the cheque constitutes the Dec payment? Hence as long as we finally get account details at some point in January we can make the 'next' payment, or is there a possibility the cheque was registered as Nov payment and if we don't get account details before 31st we would miss the Dec payment?trickydicky14 said:Band7 said:
My opening deposit cheque was cashed on Dec 14 (applied Nov 24 or 25). I was told my passbook had been posted on Dec 9 but as of yet, I have not received it. There is still a msg on their phoneline to say they are working through a large number of applications and will write to applicants. I was phoning them about another matter this morning and took the oppty to ask them for my account number for the 5.5% account. They kept saying they couldn't give it to me "for security reasons". After lots of begging, I managed to get the number. I am now waiting for my account to be added to online banking. I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.0 -
I did a switch to Halifax around 4 months ago and got the switcher bonus of £150. Does anyone know if there is a minimum stay period or am I free to switch somewhere else? Thanks-1

Maybe help with forward planning:
On strong authority, the Furness BS 3 year Reg Saver goes to 3.2% wef 01/02/2023 (2.9% now).
If you opened that at launch you won't have long to go anyway (June?), but may make it acceptable to wait until maturity: Early closure requires the faff of original or certified photo id, which maybe OK if you're local to a branch...
Also their RS5 (1 year) goes to 4.3% wef 01/02/23.7 -
The interest on Coventry FHS is paid annually- I guess if you close before they sell pay it? Can't see in the t&cs. Cheers0

It's a little vague on whether the family member needs to exist yet.masonic said:
The key information explicitly stated that you could hold the account in order to save towards someone else's first home. The account was not only targeted at FTB, but also their family members. Anyone could have answered that question honestly and not been screened out.

For those still waiting for the MONBS Xmas RS I'm told that they are working on them in order received and today are dealing with applications received on the 6th Dec. Anything received prior to that should have been dealt with.3

Being pedantic, how can someone be a member of your family if they don't exist?phillw said:

The reported increase for the Stafford Railway Building Society Regular Saver Issue1 to 3.75% variable from 1st January 2023 now confirmed on their website https://srbs.co.uk/savings/detail/regular-saver-issue-1
Funny how things pan out, this was one of my top payers when I opened it in August, now languishing in the relegation places despite the increase!Save £12k in 2020 #42 £12,551.25 / £14,000 89.65%9
