  • I am not suprised at the high demand for the Coventry FHS. The £1000 maximum monthly contribution, instant access with no penalty, the 36 month to maturity (37 monthly deposits are possible giving a maximum maturity value of £37K plus interest) and obviously the promise of 5% interest starting in a few weeks time made this account a "good one". Thanks to the MSE stalwarts for pointing out that you can own many properties as long as you are helping a family member save up to buy their first home. When I opened this account over a year ago I interpreted their wording to mean it was ok for me to be a home owner. Coventry have never questioned my ability to qualify for this account in that time. Slight word of caution - the interest rate is variable so could go down and also 5% might be good now, but over the next three years will that still be the case? But if it became uncompetitive then you can withdraw funds which is what I did a few months ago unfortunately as it turned out!
  • Buckinghamshire BS regular saver to rise to 3.3% from 1st February 2023.

    For those of us with the closed issue RS Locals, increase just 0.25% to 3.70%

    Re: Cov BS FHS, that email invite to the 'Panel' appears to be a blanket email - I'm already a participant and still got it inviting me.

    Anyone still waiting on the Monmouthshire 5.5% account?
    My cheque has been cashed but no sign of the passbook yet, though I've got quite a few letters stuck in the post at the moment.

    Edit:
    Just received my passbook in the post

    My opening deposit cheque was cashed on Dec 14 (applied Nov 24 or 25). I was told my passbook had been posted on Dec 9 but as of yet, I have not received it. There is still a msg on their phoneline to say they are working through a large number of applications and will write to applicants. I was phoning them about another matter this morning and took the oppty to ask them for my account number for the 5.5% account. They kept saying they couldn't give it to me "for security reasons". After lots of begging, I managed to get the number.  I am now waiting for my account to be added to online banking. What a palaver.

    My dates coincide for application and cheque being cashed are exactly the same as yours, and like you, I have not received any account info via post as yet.

    I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
    The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
    I listen all night for your step on the stair.

    You need to add the account to your online banking. Box at top right of home screen. It will then appear in your accounts list as "pending" for at least 24 hours.

    I know, I have requested the addition and am waiting now for them to action it. As you say, it takes at least 24 hours. I have waited 4 working days for the 3.75% one to show

    I'm similar dates to above but heard nothing yet. Having applied in Nov (cheque dated Nov) but cheque cashed 15th Dec, does that mean account was 'opened' in December and the cheque constitutes the Dec payment? Hence as long as we finally get account details at some point in January we can make the 'next' payment, or is there a possibility the cheque was registered as Nov payment and if we don't get account details before 31st we would miss the Dec payment?

    The date your cheque was registered on your account is the date your 1 year account starts. This will be no more than 3 working days before the cheque was cashed. The earliest you can make the next payment is therefore Jan 1 - but they will probably not credit that until Jan 3

    Agree with all you say, just need account info so I can setup standing order for Jan.
