  • If Lloyd's regular saver has gone up to 1% why does my RS still show as 0.75%? It's only got a month to run so will have pretty much no impact on myself but curious?

Its a fixed interest rate based on when you opened the account.

Just beware, "variable" savings rates do not necessarily "track". Frequently they go down more than they go up, and not necessarily in response to a change in the base rate....

Appreciate that, I'm just far too optimistic...

I already have REGULAR ESAVER (ISSUE 12) with less than £10 in it, paying interest of 0.5%
But I went Applied this new one it says I already have one.
Is it possible to close this account and open a new account or renew the interest of the existing one ??
Any info will be very much appreciated. TIA

I can confirm you can close the 'old' saver by chat. It starts on that robot thing but patches you over to a real person (still in chat) after you get the fields populated. I did it yesterday - says will be done in upto 3 days but was done within a few hours - and I opened the 2.5% regsaver at 01.00 this morning.

The account was showing when I logged in this morning; first £200 funded the ac by transfer and set up SO for 11 future payments starting 6th May..

Usefully, you can do number of payments on internal SOs...
Can't remember if I was already logged in or if I started chat before it told me to log in and message them. If it's busy chat isn't available but appears when the queue clears.. so may get through quicker out of normal hours.

As discussed earlier in the thread, yes. Contact Santander by phone or live chat and they will close your existing RS account. You can then open a new RS at the new rate.

Thanks I just did that over the phone.
Those who want to close their existing Regular eSaver i12. Avoid using their Chatbot, you are just wasting your time as this option is not there. So you will still need to call them.
Use their TB instead. It might take about ten minutes to get someone but you have little to lose as it is 0800 phone and you could wait reply while doing other things.
The existing ac will need to drop/disappear from your online banking list before you could apply online for the new one.

Make sure to do it before 30th June as the freephone number is being discontinued to be replaced by an 03 number.

I got this in an email on 5th April.

Changes to your Santander terms and conditions

We’re changing some of our telephone numbers from freephone to basic rate numbers (where local charges will apply) and we’re also making some things clearer in our terms and conditions.

These changes can be found in the attached document and are effective from 30 June 2022.

You'll be able find out more details about these changes online from 30 June 2022. Visit santander.co.uk and search for ‘current account changes’.
