Thanks for this information. I ended up sending a message via Lloyds Bank facebook messenger who told me to use the Message Us option via the Lloyds app. It is closed now, but I will remember your advice in future.MDMD said:
It’s a faff but you need to log onto online banking and change the account type to an easy saver (I think it’s under other account services) which will crystallise the interest, you then withdraw down to zero.Frogletina said:
I tried to close this account, but the message I got was that I couldn't close the account unless there was £5 or less in there. So I transferred the bulk of the money leaving £5 in the account and now I have a message saying that the account cannot be closed online.MDMD said:Club Lloyds monthly saver now 1.25%. My account only has until May to run, so I thought I'd close it now as the interest I get will be in the new tax year, and transfer all the money to Chase. Not Rachmaninov

I've still got the Coventry RS, it will cost me 30 days interest to close, but probably worth it - already reduced pay in to £10 a monthNick_C said:
With Chase paying 1.5%, I want at least 1.75% and flexibility from any new RS. Club Lloyds is my main current account, but 1.25% for a new RS is a joke.
I've kept the Yorkshire make me a saver account, just for the prize draw - reduced pay in to £50 a month
I might close the Yorkshire Christmas saver
Plus I've kept the Leeds Regular saver at the minimum, just so I have a presence there.
All my other Reg savers I've closed, or are above 1.75%
I do have the Chase Savings account which is rapidly getting filled.

Of course the question should you wait to open up the Club Lloyds and other fixed rate regular savers (e.g. HSBC/First direct) paying below 1.5% - in case rates go up further. A 1.25% fixed rate for a year doesn't look that enticing at present. Coventry's variable rate regular saver for example pays 1.15% - and the rate would presumably go up with further base rate rises.MDMD said:Club Lloyds monthly saver now 1.25%. Agreed 1.75% is my minimum for new RS, though I still do have some operating below that at 1.5 / 1.6 which will remain.Frogletina said:

Have closed 10 RS accounts over the past week and reduced deposits on others to minimums, either £0 / £1 / £25 where there are restrictions/penalties applicable.
I also have kept the YBS Make just for the draw....wishful thinking !
Leeds (I've closed mine), as long as you still have an online presence (it's not removed when closing a/c) you can open accounts quickly as if a current customer, just like Saffron.1 -

I wasn't sure what sort of Santander account I had - OH has a normal account so I know his wont be suitable for a regular saver.
But I have 1 2 3 Lite Current account which is mostly dormant apart from a small balance- I dont have direct debits, I dont pay £2 a month, dont pay in £500 a month and often forget to log in once every three months. I think I had it when they ere previously paying a good regular saver rate but that finished so its sat there ever since.
They emailed me recently and also sent a letter so I did a £1 withdrawal to keep the account open.
I am wondering if its eligible current account for a regular saver or would that alert them to the fact that I am not compiling with the rules. Might have a try tomorrow to see if it will allow me to open one online.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
Have Ecology BS regular saver paying 1.3% on £250 a month. I know its lower than Chase (but my new tablet is incompatible with the app). The benefit is it continues as long as you want it and is not restricted to just one year. Also have RBS digital saver and Nationwide Flex Regular Saver. May look at others in the future0

I did that very same thing yesterday, so to get the interest in the previous tax year! They will close it over the phone within 5-10 minutes if you want. Same with the monthly saver, and Halifax too.1 -
Oh, I have Chase accounts too and an up to date smart phone! I am happy to close two x 1% RSs and open Santander and Club Lloyds. Works for me.Nick_C said:

I'm turning down the Santander RS because £200 @ 2.5% will earn me about £32 but first I need to transfer my Everyday Current account to a 123 account, the cheapest of which is £24 a year leaving the equivalent of £8 a year interest! £200 at 1% would return £13!!0
