I am afraid, you are. We won't be asked to lend any money. We, and our children and grandchildren and their children and grandchildren will be asked to pay. And for good reason: after all, it's money for the services we require as a society.

I've just opened another Lloyds monthly saver (not the Club) and see from their t&cs that they say "you can pay an amount of between £25 and £250 by your Standing Order, or by transfer from your current account, each calendar month the Account is open".

Previously my standing orders have not come from my Lloyds current account (I'd got them set up from my main current account).  I know the terms are that you have to have a Lloyds current account to satisfy opening the account, but does the above statement mean that standing orders should come from the Lloyds current account?

    Hi Folks,

Here is this weekend's update to this thread.

-Santander Regular eSaver issue 9 replaced with issue 10 paying 1.5% (instead of 2% with the previous issue)

I have made a note of the Ecology BS regular savings account and the Monmouthshire Christmas Saver and Saver Plus Issue 3 accounts. With so many providers having not yet changed their interest rates following the recent Bank of England interest rate cuts, I am waiting until next month to see what interest rates are like, then I will decide where to re-set the criteria for inclusion of accounts on this thread and then I will consider adding new accounts and deleting existing ones then.

I will do the next update next weekend.

Regarding the Monmouthshire savings accounts has anyone from outwith England and Wales operated an account with them? The web pages say these accounts are open to England and Wales however T&C state open to UK residents!! I opened one online prior to seeing the only available in England and Wales (I live in Scotland) and got correspondence back needing my signature to complete the opening however not heard back yet, could be due to current circumstances and Easter period but wondered if noticed my location and cancelled it??

You should be ok. Check your account online - you can add your new account to the display, and as soon as they have processed your signature (which they probably have by now if you sent it back), you can then add money. It does seem to take ages though before the money hits your account - I FPed some yesterday to my new account and it still isn't showing.

Despite of what they say, the SO can come from a non-Lloyds account. You can also make one-off FPs into the account, it doesn't have to be an SO.

Money seems to be added at the end of the working day, so should appear the following day when you check online.  Although I have tried to add money to the Christmas Saver on Tuesday, but it was returned to the originating account yesterday.  I waited until it didn't show as 'pending' before adding the money.  My Saver Plus Issue 3 is also showing the interest rate as 0%, even though money was successfully added to that.  Anyone else having these issues with Monmouthshire?
Edit - the Saver Plus is now showing as 0.55%, rather than 1.55%. Presumably they wait to see if I adhere to the restrictions before adding the other 1%?

Were you successful in adding money to My Saver Plus Issue 3 while still showing as "pending" or should I wait until fully operationally? Posted signature back yesterday,

I waited until it stopped showing as 'pending'.  It didn't take long - I posted my signature I think on Wednesday last week, and it had stopped showing as pending by Tuesday.  I posted my Christmas Saver signature on Thursday, but the postbox said next collection was Saturday, which is why I was surprised when my Christmas Saver had stopped showing as pending by Tuesday as well.
