My Monmouthshire reg saver issue 4 matures on September 8th - the letter from them regarding the maturity instructions only arrived today but it was dated 20th August (so it was the statutory 14 days notice when the letter was generated. I know other building societies give a months notice).
Anyway I have to give instructions by September 7th but the list of accounts that I can transfer to does not include the shiny new 1.52% regular saver (which didnt exist on August 20th I imagine) - I was going to put £1 into an easy saver so at least I would be classed as a customer - fortunately I checked this thread first.
I have just now opened the shiny new 1.52% Regular saver - its odd that they didnt ask for the account number of the accounts I already have. As I've opened this on August 27th I am still a savings customer even though this account will mature in a few days time but will they have processed my application before September 7th as this is a bank holiday weekend.
I suppose if we get to Friday 3rd I might give them a ring to check on progress (that gives me the option of ringing on Monday 6th if its not processed by Friday)
My interest for a year of saving with MBS - £25.25 - I am not sure why we are still bothering ....“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

It's crap.
But I'm paying 0.99% on my mortgage. Using regular saving accounts plus c/a perks (including switching bonuses), I can keep my returns on cash at around 1.5%.
C'est la vie, mon ami.MBS RS4 maturing soon pays 1.5% - I wouldn`t call that "****"! What about the numerous savings accounts paying .01%? What would you call that?£25.25 may not seem much but I have umpteen RS`s whose interest payments when added together for a year will take me near the £1000 Personal Savings Allowance.1 -
Monmouthshire paperwork for new Existing saver received and returned today. Account numbers for this account are denoted with an X at the end. Usual signatory form only to return.
Remember, with MON, the official opening date is the day of first deposit, not application date and you have 30 days to make that first deposit from application so for those who prefer to make the initial payment late in the month and follow up on the 1st to maximise interest, this can be done, though a 13th deposit cannot.2 -
same here. No X though0

My letter has an account number below my name but it will not show online until I sign the Online Signatory Form and return in the second class envelope. Too late for today’s post. So probably 3rd September earliest it will show online"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

re Darlington Special Saver account.Their website states that you have to either be an existing member or live in one of the designated postal code areas to open one of these accounts. However I see that their easy access account is available “nationally”.
Does anyone know if I open one of these easy access accounts, would I then be eligible to open the special saver? (I do not live in one of the postal code areas). Thanks

I've had the letter today too, posted SCP 27/8, received 28/8, which isn't bad going!
I've taken a chance. They had the signature form last year about this time, so why they need another, only they know. I've FP'd £300 today from a Club Lloyds account; showing as debited 31/8. I've posted the signature form in the SCP envelope provided in a post-box at the PO labelled - NHS Sat & Sun.
It could all come together and I could deposit again on Sept 1st.
