    Nottingham BS
Is anyone aware of a freepost address for Nottingham BS? I am looking to shut my regular saver (special saver 8) account, they said they do not take instruction by email and need a signed letter and passbook. I've noticed they are coy about sending out prepaid envelopes and I think the 2008 list of freepost addresses on MSE Forums is probably now not correct for NBS. Asked in the spirit of maximising net interest returns from regular savers, of course...

A quick google doesn't suggest that the Nottingham B/S has an office there anymore.
The only reference I can find to Freepost MID08185 is from 2008 so it may not still be valid?

Just been through my Nottingham BS stuff, bundles of old Summary Financial Statements back to 1999 and found an envelope with the address above, from 2007. With it is a "Postal Account Transaction Request Form" so I would assume that address was only for use when they had a selection of postal-only accounts available,
Just went checking the Nottingham BS website and noticed they are permanently closing 7 branches at the end of next month too.
  • A word of warning to other NottBS customers. Nottingham didn't follow my instructions in my covering letter to close account my SRS8 account on 2nd November, a cheque dropped through my postbox today. They closed account the day they received the letter.

I had this issue with them in 2017 on a reg saver that included a bonus. They closed it the week before the bonus was paid. A complaint yielded the return of the bonus + £25 goodwill.

Had a letter from Saffron BS, turning my application for their RS down as I don't live in any of the post codes they stipulate. Being an existing customer did not sway them.

    Thanks, just applied.
You just need £10 balance to keep it open and can deposit £0-£1000 a month

Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."
