Their (newish) website says to make payments in using your own name as the payee name. I could have sworn the previous guidance was to use 'Principality Building Society' as the payee and select the 'Business' account option.
They also said that any existing standing orders using the old process (ie with the payee as PBS) don't need to be updated.
(To be clear, I was opening the new issue 35 Regular Saver.)1 -

Thy have changed their guidance but you can use any name you wish. You just won't get a COP match if you don't follow their guidance but so long as the sort code, account number and Reference are as per Principality's advice, your money will arrive alright.
The Reference Number for Principality accounts opened in the last hour or so is not recognised in the COP checking yet, so if you want to pay money in today, you might have to ignore the COP result (where you can - - - Santander, for instance, unhelpfully won't let you make any payment to unknown Reference numbers)0 -

On a thread where multiple products and aspects of the products are being discussed your reply, however helpfully intended, means little.0 -

Wouldn't be an ideal world for me. Whilst I am forced to use COP, I am more than happy to ignore any mismatch when I am certain that I got sort code, account number, and Ref (where applicable) right.

Not so easy for me! - Had to post two different ID documents. Obviously, whats acceptable for some financial institutions is not acceptable for others.
Got my user ID at 10am.
Am I right in thinking they use the same system as Ford Money & Gatehouse?, seems my user ID for those are very similar.0 -
Janie2008 said:Just paid some money into one of my Principality regular savers using my name instead of Principality and it went through. My accounts now all say to use my name though I imagine both options will work.Without wanting to go in to what COP is and isn't again, the only things that matter for the payment to process correctly are the bank account, sort code and reference (and, for certain accounts, making it from a nominated account). The name field is not sent with the payment.6
