Opened mine with Principality BS in literal minutes.WindfallWendy said:Trying to open a Christmas saver with PBS. Am an existing customer but it keeps running into a problem. Will probably go into branch to sort it out as I'm not a fan of BS online services to be honest. MHBS feels like I've gone back in time by about 20 years!
Anyway apologies for mini-rant. I just wondered if anyone else (existing PBS customers) had been having a problem too?
Clicked apply - prompted me to log in - check a few boxes re tax and document reads and boom - account open.
I opened online, Windows, Chrome - if that helps.1 -
I had a few error problems too last night. Tried link supplied by ForumUser7 and got in and up and set up new account within a few minutes. https://online.principality.co.uk/Originations/LaunchPage.aspx?ProductCode=6081&ProductType=RegularSaver&CIJ=true#!WindfallWendy said:Trying to open a Christmas saver with PBS. Yeah NewCastle been mulling this reg saver for some time since before 11 Oct. Im assuming the reg saver was open to public on 24 Oct, when it was reported here on the threadBridlington1 said:
It may well be and I suspect it will last longer than the base rate tracker.ChewyyBacca said:
I think the account will be available until at least 1 Nov because their interest calculation assumes first deposit on 1st NovBridlington1 said:
Also whilst I remember Newcastle BS have been known to pull savings accounts very soon after launch. Their base rate tracker from a year or two back was gone within 24 hours of being launched IIRC.Bridlington1 said:Newcastle BS Newcastle Regular Saver (Issue 1) has been launched at 5.5% (var)
£200 per calendar month max
Can skip months if you wish
Unlimited withdrawals
Lasts 1 year
Can be opened/managed online and in branch
£2.4k max balance
Hopefully this one will last a tad longer but just something to consider if interested in opening this account.''What would the estimated balance be after 12 months based on a deposit of £200 per month?
Please note this projection is based on:
- An initial Deposit of £200 made on 1st November 2024
- etc etc''
The rate, whilst competitive, isn't the top rate for a regular saver, although having said that it is the top rate among the currently available regular savers which allows unlimited penalty-free withdrawals online and doesn't require you to be an existing customer to open it if I'm not mistaken.
It seems to have been around a while already though given their summary box states:
I was just pointing out though that like Monmouthshire BS, they have been known to pull savings accounts within very short timeframes if they see a surge in applications, which may be worth taking into account when deciding when to open the account.
My problem is I have no money this month. In fact I dont have money to fund the high paying regular savers, until the 4th Nov, when Tipton will finally release the maturity funds (fingers crossed no delays beyond 4th)
If I open Newcastle Reg Saver on 1st Nov24 & fund on 4th Nov, I presume the account will mature on 1 Nov 2025; since '' Interest will be paid to your Newcastle Regular Saver on the Annual Anniversary of account opening.'' as per product document.
Anyone read anything that would suggest maturity of account is 12 months after the first deposit is made and not after the account opening date?0 -

T&Cs have: "On the Annual Anniversary of your account opening date, your account will mature into an easy access account with avariable interest rate." (My bold)

One thing worth noting about Gatehouse though is that the account term begins from the day the first deposit is paid into the account, not the date it was opened (same as Skipton, Co-op, Monmouthshire) so to get the maximum benefit out of the account you can hold off funding it till the end of the month (plus it'll ensure maturing funds arrive around 1st of the month, which is useful when funding other regular savers).Dizzycap said:kippo1 said:Principality has a 7% christmas saver if anybody is interested
