Has anyone received their passbook for the Issue 2 Exclusive yet? Sent my signature form off over a week ago now and nothing.
I received mine, yesterday but it is just a waste of postage, as you don’t need it for anything

On the contrary, both my wife and I have needed ours for last year's Exclusive. I needed mine to close the account early (to get the interest applied to last tax year's allowance) and she needed to send hers back in by snail mail because the code they sent to manage maturity didn't work.
Keep them somewhere safe would be my advice!
If you link a bank account you don’t need the passbook, as you can just transfer the funds directly to your bank account.
You  don’t need the code to manage the maturity. Once both my regular savers matured I just transferred the funds to my bank sccount.

Not true in the case of early closure. Remember this is a variable interest account and even without that early closure is the only way of getting your money back with interest should the need/desire arise.

As it happens my wife also is currently unable to log in, and has been since she changed her name to her married one in July. This is perhaps a solvable problem but still, I wouldn't want to depend entirely on Monmouthshire's online access as things stand. I thought the passbook was anachronistic when I received one but it's actually been very neccessary for us.

I've had eight or nine regular savers with Monmouth BS, all with passbooks and have never needed to use any for any reason, although I've never closed one early either so for reasons like you describe then maybe they're needed.
If you just let them run and mature normally the passbook is not required for anything.

I don't understand how getting married blocked her account access

I am sure that you would not need your passbook to close the account early if you have a linked bank account.
I just let my Regular savers run the course, so I have not actually tried.

Nor do we, but we know that it worked the morning we headed to Hereford, where we took our passbooks and marriage certificate and got her name updated, then it no longer worked when we both checked our accounts a few weeks later - mine still worked but hers did not. Could be total co-incidence but that seems unlikely given the time. Calling them to get it sorted has been on the to-do for her ever since.
Presumably the online maturity process is linked to the same blocked identity.
Again, I don't doubt we are edge cases and most will not need it - but if I were to have assumed a year ago I would not have guessed that we'd have married, I'd have lost £500 of the PSA I thought I'd still have nor that all this would have lead to circumstances where the passbook was needed.
Best to keep it safe, just in case.

    Yep, at the weekend.
  • Hi (YBS 8% Reg Saver)

Why does it say you cannot add money from another YBS account. It seems odd you can't fund from another account.

    Cheers

Yeah, it clearly states that, however, it then suggests the option to transfer in from another YBS account for the first deposit  🤷‍♂️😂

For the first deposit I transferred £50 from the Loyalty 6 access esaver 2023, as it is finishing soon. Definitely in the RS.
