Just had an update, then it let me login.
    Long winded and clunky.
    It was an ipad update.

Anybody else having problems with Skipton?
Not worked all day for me.
Online banking seems to be working fine for me, but I can't seem to get into the app.
I made my usual payment to Skipton yesterday, but couldn't access the app to transfer to the Reg saver.
Just logged on to on-line banking to transfer the payment, and they've done it themselves.
Maybe they're thinking this will prevent complaints about loss of interest if the app is down for an extended period.
Very unusual for them to assume this was the intended destination of the payment though.

That was very odd of Skipton to move money to the Reg Saver without you requesting.
You can pay into the Reg Saver from an external account directly though,

Yes, but I've never got round to setting up another payee. Probably should do so in future.
  • The Skipton Android app is still not working for me. I get past the first screen and use my fingerprint to try to login but it then gives a message that they are working on a problem with their system. Over a day of it being down now - it's not acceptable. I'm still waiting to fund some of my regular savers, so I'm just happy it's nothing urgent.

Same for me. I'm waiting to fund my current account for its monthly debits. Luckily I moved these from the 1st of the month to the 7th of the month a few years ago, to tie in with premium bond withdrawal timelines and flexible ISA deadlines on new tax year boundaries for putting money back in / taking it out again.
  • So Skipton's app isn't working but online access is?

Can't see why this would be more than a "tut" level inconvenience.

A previous post explained that you need an app-based OTP to withdraw using their web service, even to an existing nominated account. And people may not want to conduct financial transactions over the phone, to keep their secure details as secret as possible or because of the complexity of start-of-month financial shufflings. A bit more inconvenient than needing to tut.

    An app based otp?
Won't they just send a text code via sms if you login via a browser?
It's been so long since withdrawing online from Skipton I can't remember what happens.

You're being all sensible now. No, they put all their eggs in the appy basket, once you register for the app.

Why they need it to a known-safe nominated account, I do not know.
  • Still no good with Skipton, but these 5-5.2% easy access accounts make it far less of an issue.
