A previous post explained that you need an app-based OTP to withdraw using their web service, even to an existing nominated account. And people may not want to conduct financial transactions over the phone, to keep their secure details as secret as possible or because of the complexity of start-of-month financial shufflings. A bit more inconvenient than needing to tut.flaneurs_lobster said:So Skipton's app isn't working but online access is?
Can't see why this would be more than a "tut" level inconvenience.3 -
An app based otp?
Won't they just send a text code via sms if you login via a browser?
It's been so long since withdrawing online from Skipton I can't remember what happens.1 -
You're being all sensible now. No, they put all their eggs in the appy basket, once you register for the app.happybagger said:An app based otp?

Why they need it to a known-safe nominated account, I do not know.3 -
Still no good with Skipton, but these 5-5.2% easy access accounts make it far less of an issue.0

Ah, missed that post about the app being the only source of OTP once you've registered.gwapenut said:

I upgrade my tut to full-blown very annoying, fortunate that my Skipton accounts are in hold mode at the moment.1 -
The Skipton app is finally working for me. They must have fixed the issue (for me at least). When I tried again it first asked me to re-register the app using my details, then sent me an authorisation code and then I had access.0

Wouldn't it be better to keep the Skipton app issues to a specific thread?
That might help others with ISAs and other non RS
And also keep this RS smoother?6 -
Yesterday morning when I tried to do the online transfer, neither were working. Glad to hear online has come backflaneurs_lobster said:So Skipton's app isn't working but online access is?

I don’t see why they would have moved your money to prevent interest loss. Skipton doesn’t even allow withdrawals (including internal transfers) on non-business days, so it’s better to fund the regular saver directly. An internal transfer performed on 01 Jan 2024 would have been processed (automatically) on 02 Jan 2024; are you sure you didn’t do this yourself? I don’t recall the app experiencing problems on Monday.Middle_of_the_Road said:I made my usual payment to Skipton yesterday, but couldn't access the app to transfer to the Reg saver.Just logged on to on-line banking to transfer the payment, and they've done it themselves.
Maybe they're thinking this will prevent complaints about loss of interest if the app is down for an extended period.
Very unusual for them to assume this was the intended destination of the payment though.1 -
Think you're probably right. Seems likely the outage got me distracted along with all the other first of month payments.AmityNeon said:
