Hi Mummy2threeboys great to hear from you.  Comping has changed a lot in the last couple of years.  Not so many web comps and more people entering so fewer wins. It’s okay for a hobby and enter and forget. Also this site is so different but has improved since the changeover.   Pleased to hear you moved and have found a job there sounds great for your boys.  We are in tier 4 too.  It’s been a long haul since the beginning of March.  We are all hoping for a better year next year.

Sheils pleased your Family Christmas went well.  Must be wonderful to have two chefs on hand and see your GS.   He must have grown a lot.
Indie lovely that you could send your DS’s GF’s Nan a Christmas meal.  I’m sure she really appreciated it.   She’s been by herself a long time.   I bet you were so relieved not to be working this year.  Let’s hope we all have the vaccine soon.  Indie GS nearest to us with DD1 we hear from at least 5 times a day.  DD2 not so often but her DS (seven year old) FaceTimed  Christmas morning  and then we spoke to them.  The two in Scotland did FaceTime their Dad on Christmas Day, which was great but we have not heard from them yet.  We heard their presents had arrived but ExDIL and GD were in school until 23rd so will hear from them this week I hope.  GS up there had to Quarantine as someone in his school bubble had virus but up to last we heard he was ok.

Duncan it’s just cold here no snow.  Well our cold is nothing like yours so short walks sound like a good compromise.
FireFly if you go out in the garden do wrap up and take care.  😻
    Stay safe all.

    Hi all,
Been a nice day here, could see snow on the tops of the hills but that was about it.
Been eating lots of leftovers in various ways and not sure I will eat cheesecake again for months and months! Problem is I hate wasting food especially when made by such experienced chefs!
We had roast turkey, ham and beef so been so much to finish off. DS2 wouldn’t take anything back with him. DS3 and DD did but not enough.😂

DD got her Covid Vaccine today and was told to expect to feel like she had a hangover. They changed her hours so she wasn’t working so sounds like it has a few side effects.

Lovely to see you again mummy2. Everyone is having problems with MH these days I think. DD is a MH nurse and keeps saying how bad the situation is. It will only get worse until these lockdowns stop.

    Good Morning :)
Sheils - That is the first real person that we have heard of that has got the vaccine, interesting the worry of side effects, even the health workers that live in my street have not had it yet.

We have snow on top of ice that has now frozen over again so really slippy round here this morning, even with 4 feet on the ground.
Dad wants to go shopping at 10am but I am not so sure that it is a good idea, if he falls and hurts himself, who is going to take me a walk at noon?

  • I know of someone who works in a pharmacy that got their first dose of the vaccine on 8th December. Think that the next dose is scheduled for the beginning of January (possibly slightly longer than 3 weeks due to the holidays).
A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

  • Morning all, No snow here or frost but very cold. I'm very glad my boiler has been alight for 2 whole days. Father in law (83) had his first dose 2 weeks ago, no side effects for him, but second dose due soon. Don't like the idea of a "hangover".  I've not drank in 20 months . I'd not know what to do with myself! Take care all, and have a good day. I'm off to play with my new hoover, it's got nozzles and everything.

    Hi all,

Been pretty cold here although the snow on the surrounding hills seems to be melting.
Waited until afternoon to have our walk as a bit slippy underfoot.

DD was fine by the way, just a bit of a sore arm.

Just about got through all our leftovers - hate wasting things, especially food when so many people are struggling.

    Good Morning,
Getting boring now, another cold one here with some hailstones through the night landing on ice so it is like walking on ball bearings, forecast says that it wont get above freezing point today with a 'feels like' temp of -5C.

It's all happening here now with the vaccine, some got it yesterday and others are due today, most are saying sore arm but no more than that.

I am not happy with these short walks, I can hardly get my legs going as Dad is walking so slow on the ice, I suppose that I am not helping him much with all the pulling that I do and when he slips, it scares me so I pull away even harder

Morning.  Very frosty here and bitterly cold forecast between 5 and 0 today and tomorrow down to 3 degrees.  Very cold for us and possibly snow.  Same near our DS.  So pleased the lorry drivers were not out in this cold, even though it was cold enough last week.  Last time we went out for a walk DH’s eyes were hurting and previous time he had chest pains so no walks for us this week.
I tried stuffed aubergine yesterday.  Sometimes there’s aubergine in our fruit and veg box and so far I’ve put them in pasta dishes.  We had two small ones and like you Sheils I didn’t want to waste food.  They turned out really tasty. I was going to freeze some but DH said let’s have it today.

I was a bit worried when I saw online some supermarkets were stopping on line deliveries in areas with snow so have put an Iceland order in for today.  We were down to one loaf of bread in the freezer.
Pleased your DD had minimal side effects to vaccine Sheils.
    Take care all.

Morning, I did a post yesterday afternoon but it seems to have disappeared. Don't know where that went, must be floating around in cyberspace. We had rain, sleet, snow then sunshine yesterday. The snow was only a short shower and didn't lie as everything was wet It's 1 degree out today and feels it. Great news about the 2nd vaccine getting the ok, now they should get them out quicker.
Mummy2threeboys don't blame you for not wanting a hangover, Hope you sussed your hoover out.
If slipping scares you, Duncan, imagine how your dad feels. I hope your ice goes sooner rather than later.
Glad to hear your DD was ok sheils after the jab. It must give you peace of mind knowing she has the jab in the job she does.
I had stuffed aubergine at work leanfun and liked it as well. I always tried the veggie option on roast days as the chefs can't cook a roast potato to save their lives and they were always like bullets, lol. Good idea to leave walking till the weather warms up a bit.
Hope you all have a good day
    Stay safe

Good Morning All and may your Hogs be Manay.

We were up, out and back this morning before the heating had even come on. It is so cold here again that if Dad qualified he would get the cold weather allowance but.....:(
Stuffed aubergine is something that was recommended to Dad someplace many years ago as being 'just divine' here so he ordered it and then left more than half on his plate, it was 'just yuck' so he has never tried it again.
We are having an argument here about when to go to the shop, Dad wants to go early with the car and get a lot of stuff but I want to go to a different shop to get just one thing, we may yet end up doing both.
