As promised but don't tell the fly ladies upstairs
Mum did score the dough with a 'cake cutter' rather than a knife and usually got a dozen scones from the flat circle of dough and the 'cuttings' that were left were also served up on the cake plate, some did say that they tasted better but Dad says it was just because the bits were smaller and more crunchy.
plus a bonus recipe for scones made with lemonade.2 -
Morning. Much cooler here today and it’s darker earlier.Duncan’s Dad thank ou for the apple scone round recipe. I’m definitely going to try it out. Well done on scanning. I won’t try the Lemonade one as too much cream for me. I don’t ever remember seeing a scone round before so something completely new. Our Odd Box of fruit and veg came yesterday and had apples. It’s also had purple carrots! We have not pealed any jet to see if they are orange inside. They do look strange.Hope everyone has a good weekend.2

Actually cold here through the night into this morning, down to 5 degrees.
The scone round is just a different way to bake, you can score it like a pizza to give any number of slices that just break off after baking or use a cutter like Mum did to give individual scones.
Never seen purple carrots before, interesting to hear if they taste like a carrot, must be good for adding colour to salads.
Heading to the shop soon, it will be a change to see Dad putting sun cream on again instead of waterproofs.

Morning. It’s a bit chilly here this morning but should be warmer today.
Firefly thanks for the link. Interesting they are good for heart disease so good for DH. The leaflet that comes with the Odd Box gave some of their history. The ones we had were because they were too late for the farmer’s supplier and he wanted to replant the fields. When I cut them they have a white ring inside. I didn’t think they tasted like carrots but couldn't describe what the taste like. DH thought they were a bit like carrots. I have an ordinary pan for potatoes and a steamer pan the fits on top for veg. I put the purple carrots in with other veg and the water below became purple. DH’s opinion he could eat them. He might be even more keen when he knows how good they are for him. I’ve been making coleslaw and put ordinary grated carrot in but DH doesn’t eat that.
Duncan pleased to hear you needed sun cream your way. Hope you enjoy your walks today.
No plans here today except if it stays fine trying to cut back more if the forsythia.Hope everyone has a goid day.2 -
What a busy day.
Saw foxes on our first walk 🦊, found 2 balls on the second one but one is split and Dad took the other (football) away before I got my teeth into it, caught a mouse on the next walk 🐭 and took it all the way home, managed to drag Dad to the other park later to watch some football ⚽ and almost caught a cat on our last walk, we turned a blind corner and it was just sitting there. 🙀
What will tomorrow bring?

Morning, I have been to work the last few days and it's been freezing in the mornings. Same this morning, the temperatures have really dropped now. those carrots sound interesting leanfun. I have seen them on tv before but not in our shops.
I have never heard of a dog catching a mouse either ff. You must be a very quick mover Duncan. Hope you have some good walks today.
Obi and Charlie have new nicknames now. Obi ( The Widdler) got in his cat bed down here and had a wee, jumped out, and before I got to it Charlie (The Piddler) went and cocked his leg up it and peed over it. So we have given them those nicknames, lol. I never realized Charlie could be so quick. I was only 5 steps away but he got there before me.
I am not working today, so will be doing some housework and catching up with EOM comps.
Hope you all have a good day

I can do the 4 footed jump into the long grass then I snuffle around, listening all the time for sounds of movement, I don't catch a lot of mice and they do vary from full size down to babies, Dad is quite patient with me when I am in hunting mode and gives me plenty of time and lead to follow my nose.
We are just back from Aldi, nothing for me this time, just fruit for Dad.
He is heading out without me this afternoon to collect a kettle from a Freegler, he was going to walk there with me as the info button said they were just 4.2 miles away but when the actual address came through, they are 6.6 miles and that is just a bit far for the round trip, it would take about 5 hours walking.

hi all, today was DH's 77th b/day & he was feeling a bit low this morning but soon cheered up when son's & GS's kept phoning him to chat, they had sent him some nice pressies & cards that i read out to him & i got him some audiobooks that he wanted & made him a little b/day cake so he's gone to bed feeling a lot happier so a good day in the endlol loving the nicknames for charlie & obi indie
good luck with OEM comps,
duncan, you sound amazing when in hunting mode reminded me of a saluki/greyhound cross we used to have that could clear 4ft fences with ease, though she never came back with a mouse when out on the fields i daren't say on here what she did come back with though i bet you can guess!hope you've all had a good day & stay safeplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.1 -
Morning. It’s bright sunshine here today.
Belated happy birthday to your DH FireFly. Birthdays can be strange days especially in these times. Pleased he was able to chat with family and that cheered him up. Presents and cake sound great.Indie the nicknames made me smile also the picturing them getting passed you so quickly. Here’s hoping we might have some luck.
Yesterday I suddenly decided to cut front hedge. There not much of it. It’s just the thought of doing it is worse than the doing. However I still have not bought a new battery for hedge trimmer so it only runs for so long.Duncan sounds as though you have great fun catching mice. Hope weather is good your way today and you have lots of runs.3 -
Hi hi, sorry if it's a stupid question, I've registered for years but whenever I try to share a competition I found it says "you have to be registered for longer"
how long does it take? can anyone help? thank you!
