Morning, our cars often get covered in sand they say it's carried from the deserts on the wind. Was it windy the night before Duncan?
Charlie woke me at 1 o'clock this morning wanting a wee. I knew he was desperate as the rain was bouncing off the floor. I had to rub him down when he came in.
I hope the robin and sparrows come back leanfun, hopefully, they are just lying low why the cat is around. Glad to hear your neighbour found her keys, I did similar last week with my purse, thought I lost it but put it in one of my shopping bags and not the one I usually carry it in.
I have the vets this morning to check Charlies eyes, they are white and look ok. Then i am giving him a bath as being in the rain last night has made him smell like wet dog, lol (I know that is how he should smell but not hours after.)
Hope you all have a good day
Take care2 -
Hello All
We do get sand brought in by big weather systems but that is usually announced on the weather news somewhere, this time nothing has been said and it is really only noticeable when all brought together by running water.
We have fog this morning so everything is wet again but without the rain, that is due this afternoon.
Dad is taking me with him in the car today, he has a bit of shopping to do in Kirkcaldy and yet another Freegle delivery so he will park up somewhere and take me walking to do the delivery. These folk should really be collecting the stuff from our house, Dad is just too good to them.
Dad has applied and been accepted to test the vaccine for the Covid virus, just waiting to see if he qualifies for the test group for his age.
Have a good day.2 -
Looks like autumn has arrived judging by the number of leaves blowing about this evening, it has been a nice day though with some sunshine and nice and warm without being too hot.
Lots of walks today and already Dad has plans for more tomorrow even if it does rain, he wants something from both Aldi and Lidl in their Thursday specials in the middle aisle, I just hope we get there before they sell out.

Great you had a good day Duncan. Here it’s not cold but light rain all day it’s also dark a lot earlier this evening. Hope your Dad is accepted for the vaccine trials. I read the BBC reporter for medicine was Fergus .... was turned down for trials due to his age. Our DDI had virus symptoms early March although no testing available then we think she had it. She was part a trial to check for antibodies but her test showed that she didn’t have any. Be great when and if they find a vaccine.Over a week ago DD1 took GS to meet up with DD2 and her two and they had a few days at Bognor Regis and then DD1 went on to the Isle of Wight. They are home this afternoon just as the rain has started. I think it’s made DH envious with us going nowhere.Indie hope Charlie’s vet visit went well. Great you found your purse and had not lost it but it’s very upsetting at the time.
Have a good evening.2 -
Morning, it's sunny here at the moment but yesterday started the same then it rained all day and was windy.
I hope your dad gets selected for the vaccine trial Duncan, fingers crossed. I have to agree with ff on the freeglers they should come and collect the items, your dad spoils them but it does mean extra walks for you.
Glad the insurance company paid for the repairs to your fridge/freezer ff, just annoying you couldn't save everything.
Good to hear your DD's got a few days away with the kids leanfun.Hopefully, it will recharge their batteries.
Charlies vet visit went ok, and his eyes are fine now. He is still ignoring Obi but her back goes up at him now and again. She walked behind him yesterday and smelt his tail, it's a very waggly tail so expecting her to play with it soon, lol. That will be interesting to see his reaction.
I hope you all have a good day
Stay safe1 -
Morning sunny here.
Firefly so sorry to hear your fridge freezer broke down. Such a lot of extra stress and work, so pleased to hear you had a good result with the insurance but it’s so upsetting to loose things you have prepared and all the effort to have things replaced.Just had problems with the rubbish collection. Last week someone put food waste in our garden bin and it was not collected. Bin stank..... DH spent ages phoning the council. Council asked him to remove rotting food and then they would empty. Husband said no he was old and needed help. Monday they emptied it. This morning DH saw a bin man collecting food waste in a bin and from other houses’s food bins and dumped it in our garden bin. DH was not dressed to go out. We have just seen a recycling bin man come along and talked to him. He says food waste and garden waste goes into same lorry! If we don’t want food waste in our garden bin to put a notice in it. So it doesn’t happen in the future. What a palaver.Hope everyone has a good day.2 -
A good day so far, found 3 footballs, got to chase 2 different mice, Dad bought 20 mega bones for me and I met 2 new dogs to the area and both are puppies so I am hoping for a long friendship as they grow.
Sorry about your freezer ff, last lime that happened to Dad he was able to cook all the food and re-freeze it when the new freezer arrived, he now has a spare freezer in the corner in case it happens again, just need to plug it in.
Good on Charlie for ignoring Obi, she needs to learn who is boss.
leanfun, round here the food waste has always gone into the garden bin, if not directly then in bags supplied by the council, Dad used to deliver these bags as a cash-in-hand job but then the council stopped delivery and now they are only available free from the recycling centres.
Dad doesn't mind delivering his stuff to freeglers as long as it doesn't take him out of his way and usually it is for the ones that have no transport and otherwise would not be able to get things and as indie says, it gives me some extra walks, it also means that Dad does not have to sit at home waiting for people to come and collect the items that he has offered.
Have a good day in all you do.2 -
Looks like Dad wont be involved in the Covid vaccine trials, he got a questionnaire to fill in inline earlier and although he did qualify on age, he missed out due to the meds that he is on3

It's weird how bins vary so much from area to area.
Where I am, we have small food waste bins and free bags to put it in, which we can get from the local library.
Since giving up meat and being able to use my compost bin again I have hardly any food waste to go out, only cheese rinds, which I save up in the fridge and then put out when I have a few......less than once a month. I very, very rarely have anything else.(I just lurve spiders!)

Morning. Duncan’s Dad sorry to hear you won’t qualify for the Covid testing trials. Well done to you for trying. Hope you have some good walks today and the forecast storm does not reach you.Pyxis we were surprised about the bins. We can buy bags quite cheaply at a neighbouring borough’s library. Our DS years ago put a compost bin in our garden but I have never been able to use it properly. I’m no gardener. I always dreamt of being one and when I retired I thought I would take it up. Here we are lucky enough to have a garden. I used to have a tiny veg patch and grew a few things but then we are next to a Road and the traffic increased so I stopped that. This year loads of HolyHocks have appeared on this patch. We are not vegetarians but don’t eat a lot of meat. We eat a lot of veg and more fruit since we have an Odd box delivery. A friend told me a lot of people are using the food waste bags to store things in the freezer and then reusing them for food waste so we have been trying that out.
Last Saturday we had a delivery and as DH went down to the door I said don’t fall down the stairs. Next thing a loud noise he’d fallen near the bottom of the stairs. He seemed perfectly all right. Then on Tuesday he had the most enormous bruise right on the leg and place he’s had problems with the muscle. We have put arnica on but it’s now painful.Indie how’s your DS’s GF hope she is improving. Amusing about Obi and Charlie’s reaction. Sounds as though they will take to one another.
Yesterday I had a message to say I’ve won a children’s book about use of plastic. Will be good for one of the GKs.
Firefly when our children were home we had a small upright freezer as well as the fridge freezer. When they left we only used the fridge freezer but the old freezer still worked so we put it in the garage. Since lockdown we have been using it and I often wonder what we would do if it packed up. It’s ancient but works. It’s Friday again so hope everyone has a good weekend.2
