    Good Afternoon all.
Finally dry here after a full 12 hours of thunderstorms from 7pm yesterday, we were out walking when the first one roared across the sky and I dragged Dad home as fast as I could, I did not even have my supper I just went straight to my hiding place and lay there all night.
If you look on BBC Scotland website you will find pictures of the flooding at the Victoria hospital.
    Sorry about your back FF.
Too hot here now to do much, Dad is lying on the couch and I am going between the puter and out front to see if the bin lorry has arrived.
    Take Care

Duncan no wonder you went into hiding.  The storm looked horrendous. Really frightening pleased it’s over for you.   We were upset to hear of the train crash and the deaths and injuries.
i think we will be in for storm soon.  We made it out and temp was 35 today.  We went for a bit of a drive and to a Waitrose car park.  We eat our sandwiches in the shade in the car.
Firefly pleased you are a bit better today.   We too have strawberries, yummy.

Morning everyone, hope your back pain has eased ff, I know how you feel as mine often goes so have to double my meds.
I saw the news reports about the thunderstorms where you are Duncan, I don't blame you for hiding they looked terrible. We have been promised them for a few days now but all we had was a little rain last night.
Glad you got out leanfun even if it was just a drive, a change of scenery is good for you.
Congrats to your DS sheils, can't believe the baby is 10 months how time passes. He will be walking soon.
I have had a busy couple of days as when I took Charlie to vets they said his feet were ok but to keep an eye on him and if he starts licking them to put his cone on, they think it could be a habit with him. They were a bit concerned about his eyes as were a little bloodshot but he pulls on his lead, we got a harness for him but he still pulls so they want to see him next week to check his eyes again. At the moment it's not costing anything as it's checkups so don't mind taking him weekly. Didn't get or chippy meal as it was closed until tonight they were having a few days off. We then went out and picked a kitten up. We tried our hardest to adopt one from 6 different charities but kept getting told the ones on their websites were already reserved or we couldn't have one as we live near a railway line. We explained I had a cat for 16 years and there are plenty of cats around here but they still wouldn't let us adopt one so we got a kitten from someone who was selling them. We haven't introduced him to Charlie yet but brought the carrier down and he took a sniff and left it, He doesn't seem bothered by the smell of cat on us but he was brought up with them. I will introduce them when I think the time is right.
I was at work yesterday and we have gone into lockdown on the floor I was on as 2 residents have high temperatures they will be tested today for COVID.
I am off out today to pick up a few supplies and my meds. Hope you all have a good day
    Stay safe.

Are you getting tested as well indie?
Cats are a definite no-no in my house, Dad tried to introduce me to next doors cat and it was an instant hate - hate relationship and it has been the same with every cat that I meet.
Could Charlie have allergies like I do, I have hay fever and Dad gives me a loratadine tablet every 2 days which keeps it under control.
We got to watch some football last evening and I managed to get my teeth into the ones that came my way, we went back to the park this morning and found 4 balls in the bushes/long grass that the boys had not collected, Dad would not let me keep them though, they went in the shed with the others that I have found.
    Have Fun

We are even slower today than ever, if that’s possible.  It’s still hot here.  There must have been some rain in the night as the bigger table in the garden had water in the middle of it.   Yes, Indie it was good to go out even though we could not walk anywhere.   Good they are keeping an eye on a Charlie.  Interesting that Duncan has hay fever.  Never thought about that with dogs.  Irritation of the eyes is one of the symptoms. Hope the kitten settles in quickly Indie.  Shame the chippy was shut.

Hope you are a lot better today FireFly.

Yesterday I had some coffee delivered from an Instagram entry and I have won some Infra care on Twitter which DD2 will like for her two.

    Take care all.

Well done on the wins leanfun.
I had a test last week Duncan and have to have one every 3 weeks now, you sound like a couple of dogs I had. Kids use to play ball in the road and if the ball came over my wall it was theirs and I lost count of the times I gave it back flat with teeth marks in. They did complain the first few times but I tried to explain the park was 2 mins away where they could play and keep the balls intact. I will talk with the vet about allergies next week because he could have them Thanks for that tip.
It's very dark and a breeze is just starting here so we may get a storm after all.

Weather just right for us here at about 23c , sunny with slight breeze.
Got a bit too hot yesterday and we had sheet lightening at night. No thunder or rain though.
Would be scary for you and your dad Duncan. I have a son in Perth and one near Alloa and they got it bad too.

Well done on wins leanfun and glad you are getting about. Was speaking to a neighbour who goes to Madeira a lot and was thinking how you must be missing it.

Glad your back is feeling better FF.

Must be stressful when patients get sick nowadays indie. Great you got a kitten at last and hope Charlie likes it.

Must go and help DH in the garden. He is trimming a hedge so guess who will be tidying up!

Morning feels much cooler here today but still 27 degrees on the hive and it has not rained.   Sheils it’s strange but we have met a number of people from Scotland on Madeira.  Your neighbour must like Madeira too.  I never thought we would ever be going to the same place so many times we always were like you exploring. When the children were young around England then Scotland.  Madeira has amazing scenery but you are either going up or down.  There was no where flat to build a runway, so it is on stilts in the ocean and is one of the dangerous places to land, even though in 2000 they extended the runway. When we first went the only crime was traffic accidents of which there were many so DH has never hired a car.   Madeira is not a big island but because of the hills can be difficult to get to places. Over the years they have built many tunnels.  The people are very friendly and rely now on tourism so this has been a very bad time for them.   It’s Portuguese and they have very low incomes. We have made friends on the Island English people who have moved there and locals.  The locals are always having some kind of festival.  The main one is a flower festival usually after Easter.  It was postponed this year.  I was lucky enough to join a friend there for it a couple of years ago and it was really special.  So yes, we greatly missed our summer holiday.

    https://www.amusingplanet.com/2011/11/strange-airport-3-madeira-international.html

Planes need two experienced pilots.   When the plane lands often people clap especially if there are locals on the plane.     Often it can be windy at the airport and planes can’t land.  We have been fortunate that has not happened to us on the way there but we have been delayed coming home a number of times.
Enough reminiscing.     Have a good weekend all..

Dad has been to Portugal once before I got him, he had a week in the mountains and did a lot of walking including to the top of the highest mountain in Portugal, I have asked him where it was but all he can remember is that the hotel was owned by McDonalds and it had 2 pool, a gym and 3 restaurants.

Quiet day here wind low cloud and no wind meaning a little drizzle at times but it seems to be lifting now.
Found another ball this morning, Dad saves them up until the end of the summer than takes them back along to the football ground and hands them back for the various coaches to fight over.
Supposed to be getting pork and rice tonight but I cant smell any cooking coming from the kitchen yet, Dad is sitting watching the bees at the lavatera.
