Dad has never been a comper as such, he played the pools for decades but never won much, he did help a work mate fill in his coupon and they won £72,000.
We work hard at keeping out weight done, Dad adjusts the food intake for me and I take him lots of walks as it keeps him from sitting eating, we both miss going out with the Ramblers every week but hopefully they will be up a walking again soon.

I wonder if Mr Fruitcake enjoyed the solstice yesterday, he is a bit of a pagan but nice with it :)

Definitely not a comper but can I come and squat in here too? :D I'm just following all my pals from the Arms.

Sorry but no cute dog photos (no cute dog). We have a cat but he's not cute. We also have a son (duncan's dad knows him as Buterbean) but he doesn't sit still long enough for a photo :D

I just lurv barking at cats Tigs, the two next door and their pals drive me nuts walking all around outside the window, Heidi's latest trick is to sit halfway up the tree and wait for the birds to come to the feeders but I shout and warn them as soon as she twitches.

But what if you have no knowledge of Latin at all?
    Then you are stymied!

Ok, hic, haec, hoc all mean 'this', but the first is for masculine words, the second is feminine, and the third is neuter. (There are further variations of each, depending on whether the noun is the subject, object, or one of various other options').

Anyway, going through all these variations is called 'declining'. We all had to do this at school.

So, the diner was, effectively, starting to decline hic etc. when he said hic, haec, hoc.

Hoc also sounds like the wine Hock. Pun on the word hoc.

Decline also means to turn down, so it's a pun on the word decline.

Talking of keeping fit or otherwise .... I have never, ever, been so heavy as now!
First it felt too hot for walking, then too cold, and lately my back ....
But this morning I have dragged myself out for an hour or so with walking stick.
Duncan, does your dad hire you out occasionally?
I will go a walk with anyone but be aware that if you have any sore bits at all, they will be 10 times worse after a walk with me. If I am not pulling you along like a steam train, I am stopping suddenly to sniff at something or dashing off to the side to chase a pigeon, cat, bin lorry, bikes, car with trailer or just about anything I don't like the look or sound of.

rofl  duncan, i once had a border collie dog that everyone said took me for a walk instead of me taking him!
sounds like you do the same as he used to  :D

    Good Morning all :)
What a change from yesterday at this time, the sun is out and it is dry but it has yet to warm up (7 degrees) and there is no wind to speak of, the local wind generators are at a standstill.

On our first walk today, everyone we met was in a world of their own and not a single one of them returned Dad's greeting, they were either on the phone shouting loudly to whoever or had headphones in listening to something. We did get a wave from a fellow dog walker but they were going in a different direction so I never got to sniff hello.
Nothing really needing done today so plenty of walks for me, I might let Dad go out to the garden before it gets too hot but with UV levels up to 7, he wont be out there long.

I need to revise my schedule, somehow my Met Office cookie got lost and I was looking at the London forecast, resetting the cookie and checking again, it is not to be such a hot day here after all but at least that means the UV level is lower at 3 so Dad can stay out longer before he starts to burn.

We just met Sandra who lives at the end of the street and her dog Ollie who has barked at me from the first day we met so I never get to check him out properly and Dad never gets to talk to Sandra.

Good morning all :) I've got a load of washing out on the line, and we're off to Warrington (woo!) to collect a second-hand bubble mirror for our son's room.
