We missed a walk this morning so that Dad could keep trying for the dentist, he did get through eventually and got the next emergency appointment, May 10th.
No pain associated with the broken tooth (or what's left of it) but he is not sure where it is broken and it is floating about in the socket, more worried about infection.
The tooth will probably work it's own way out before he gets to see the dentist but at least things will now get checked.
He really, really hates their phone system, it does not even ring it just goes straight into the messages and they go on for a couple of minutes before you get told that the lines are busy and you should call back later.
Whatever happened to the engaged tone? when you get that it does not cost any money for the call and you call back later.1 -
Duncan, so pleased to hear your dad has an appointment albeit not for some time. Totally agree about the appointments systems. Pleased he is not in pain I too was worried about the risk of infection.Husband has been up very early for him waiting for someone to come and see if they can repair our garage door. They said it would be morning but could not give a specific time. There’s a very hefty call out charge and we think they are going to try to sell us at least a new door or try to sell new garage.
In the mean time I have been making some fish pies to go in the freezer. We had leeks and we had a fish order so it’s pies with salmon, white fish, peas, leeks all covered in parsley sauce and mashed potato on top. I just logged in to check the cooking timing.I’ve had no side effects from the Oxford vaccination except late afternoon suddenly felt really tired.Enjoy the sunshine.2 -
Morning, Glad your dad finally got a dentist appointment Duncan, and he is not in pain. I hate having to listen to the music they play whilst you wait to be connected. Enjoy your walks today.
I hope the repairman turned up leanfun and he could fix your garage door. Glad you didn't have side effects with your 2nd jab. I see they have started doing 42+ now, won't be long before everyone is done.
I took DS's GF to the hospital to the ENT dept yesterday as she has a lump on her neck and they want her to have an MRI and another scan to check what it is. The consultant thinks it's just a growth but wants to be sure it's nothing else so we will have to wait and see and face whatever it is when the time comes. My DS has been put back on steroids for his crones, so it's pills potions, and lotions this month, lol. My Iceland order turned up ok, and they had everything I ordered so have a full freezer again.
Hope you all have a good day
Stay safe

Good Morning.
Garage doors are fickle things, Dad was able to repair his mum's garage door right after the 'expert' said it would need a new one because it was so old there were no spare parts available, it just needed a single pully replaced for the wire to go round and it was bought at B&Q.
Sorry to hear about your boy's Crohns, indie, it must be bad to go back on steroids, Dad was on them twice for his before the affected part got blocked completely and had to be cut out.
We are going to the shop soon,I just have to finish barking at everyone putting their bins away after the lorry had been

Morning. Duncan’s Dad DH thinks the same as you that it can be fixed simply. The man did not turn up and they were not answering the phone in their office and no answer to an email he sent. DH can’t do much that’s heavy physically anymore due to heart condition. We might try and ask neighbours sons who visit regularly. Anyone DH has contacted either isn’t working or want wait for it £90 or £99 call out. Forgot plus VAT.
Indie so sorry to hear about your DS and his GF. As Duncan’s Dad knows Crohns can be very debilitating. Hope the steroids help a bit. Let’s hope his GFs scans show nothing serious. We too had an Iceland order yesterday. We have freezers and cupboards full. DH asked why so much shopping as he hopes we are coming out of lockdown.Take care.2 -
Afternoon very dull day here.
Some good news after deciding not to call a friend about the garage, as he has health problems too, he phone us yesterday. He’s retired but for years worked for himself and has done many jobs for us with DH assisting including putting new roof on garage years ago. He’s going to come around and have a look at garage doors. We don’t want him to do it but he might know someone who could do it at a reasonable price. The other quotes for fallout were outrageous and the person who should have come on Tuesday never contacted us
Finding it difficult to watch the news about India. We are so fortunate here.Take care.3 -
Good Afternoon
All going on here today, frost first thing then intermittant hail showers with burning sunshine in between, we saw a deer on our first walk and had an encounter with a very beligerant squirrel on a later walk. I also found a football and Dad was complaining about the number of plastic bottles left lying about so the football training is well and truly started again. The broken tooth that has been bothering Dad has finally come out and he is now left with a socket and does not know what is left inside it. Tiny bit of tooth it was but from the way it was described when in his mouth I was expecting something much bigger.
Hope you get something sorted with the door leanfun, it's terrible when workmen lket you down and don't contact you, they must have too much work elswhere, stuff 'em.
Walking group still not started and they never got back to Dad when he offered to lead this weeks walk, he went to the start point but no-one else showed up, his membership runs out this week and he has still not decided whether to renew or not.
New keyboard for the puter, what a difference without all the crumbs blocking the keys

Duncan sounds as though you had several seasons all in one day yesterday. Your walks sound interesting with all the animal and the football has started again.Pleased your Dad’s tooth has come out but it’s still a worry. Roll on the time for his dental appointment.
great your dad has a new keyboard it does make a big difference. I find it strange using keyboard now after being on iPad.
Yesterday I heard from one of my friends that her niece had died of cancer aged 50. She was a professor of philosophy at University of St Andrew’s. She leaves a husband and two teenage children.Take care all.3 -
Evening,
I hope your friend can help with the garage door leanfun. Some companies charge stupid money for a call-out. Sorry to hear about your friend's niece, that's no age.
Duncan sounds like you have had your fair share of all the weather in one day. I hope that bit of tooth that came out of your dad's mouth is the last bit left. It may only be a little bit but it's the niggling pain that it causes. It must be nice seeing all the wildlife whilst out walking, hope you're not pulling Dad's arm to get to them.
I took DS to the. dentist today as he has a lump in his mouth so he got an emergency appointment as his mouth is sore all the time
She said it was one of his wisdom teeth trying to come out sideways and he has to go back in June to have it out. He isn't having a good time at the moment. But it's better to get rid of it.
I hope you all had a good day

Morning. Still chilly here but not raining so far. DD1 wants to leave GS in the garden with us while she plays tennis tomorrow morning but it depends on the weather.Indie sorry to hear about your DS’s wisdom tooth. He’s really having a rough time. Agree about having it out. Hope work is not too bad for you if you are working this weekend.
Here I had a surprise delivery of a cross stitch kit. It’s quite big. I know a friend who will love it.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.Take care.2
