Afternoon.   Lovely sunny day here and not much wind today.  It’s youngest GD’s birthday today she’s six.  She’s having one school friend and her brother and mother around after school so they will be able to go out in the garden if it’s this weather their way.

Indie well done on the bag win great for you to have a FaceBook win.     Pleased to hear you are able to try a different home hope it works out well for you.   The paying in books have just arrived.  It’s only for this cheque I have which isn’t going to happen very often.  DH does online.

This morning I had a surprise visitor in the Odd Box fruit and veg.  I just had to take a picture.    He does look glum.   Coincidently I had just found a recipe for a Rosti quiche.  You needed a large potato and a sweet potato that we still have from last week.  So he’s not going to last long with that glum face.

Well what a strange day.   DH was already an hour before he was due to go for his 2nd vaccination this afternoon. I decided to make a big pasta dish for tonight and some to freeze as he was getting ready to go.  He was back in no time and said the appointment wasn’t for him but for me.  They had no Pfizer vaccination just the Oxford.  He said if I went around to the surgery I would be able to have my 2nd vaccination.  So I’ve had my 2nd in week seven and he has no idea when he will have his.  We will have to phone surgery on Monday.     The vaccination team at the surgery were a separate NHS team.
Anyway we have food ready for dinner.

Indie the rosti quiche tasted ok..  The recipe had paprika in it but we don’t like so don’t know if that made a big difference.  I did put mushrooms in with the cheese as we had lots of them.  I think we are programmed to taste pastry in a quiche so the potato crust seemed very strange.    The video of the recipe says to grate potatoes on to a tea cloth and then squeeze liquid out over the sink.  Loads came out if the normal potato.

I did look up and potato has a lot less calories than pastry!

Duncan hope you have the sun as here but it’s still a bit windy.  Hope Dad has been able to take you out and his arm is a bit better if you are walking in the other side.

    Have a great weekend all.

Evening, how strange ref the jabs. I hope your DH has not long to wait for his 2nd one now. Your right about the pastry and we expect to taste it when we eat pies and quiches. It's been warm here today but windy, great for drying washing outside. I have had a lazy day as working a 12 hour tomorrow at the new home.
Duncan, hope the weather has been good for you and you're getting used to walking on the other side, and not pulling your dad too much.

Hope you all have a good day
    Stay safe.

    Good Morning

Have as good a day as any 12-hour shift can give you indie, Dad never got used to them even when they were regular and not random.

All this talk of the second jab has brought a blue envelope with Dad's appointment, he has to travel to the next town for it next weekend but it is a couple of weeks early so that's fine.

I can't get used to walking on the right, after 4 years of being told to 'get over there' I am now being told to 'get over here'. Dad does some of his exercises as we are walking along, he doesn't mind looking daft but it is so embarassing for me.

The new cushion covers have been on for a few days now and I still don't like them, Dad says too bad and I will just have to lump them.

    Take Care

Good Morning.    Had a lovely surprise last night found a WEM that had been sent Saturday evening.  I’ve won a lovely handbag.  This is going to make a great present for my sister.

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6260045/e-23-04-win-a-zatchels-aura-bag-worth-90-email

Indie thought of you yesterday afternoon on your long day. Hope you had a good night’s sleep afterwards.

On Saturday the nurse asked me about my first jab and I said my armed ached for more than two weeks.  As I was talking the nurse put my arm straight down with fingers pointing to the floor.  I automatically moved it across my stomach.  She said no put it straight down and the muscle relaxes.  So where with first jab it was very painful straight away yesterday I couldn’t tell where I had had it.  This morning when I touch my arm I can feel the spot and no pain.

Duncan hopefully you will take to walking on the right soon. I think we humans automatically go to the left. Your Dad will have to walk on the other side of the road where there’s a path.  Made me smile thinking of your Dad doing the exercises out walking.  Well done him.  Who cares what it might look like. Important thing is he’s doing them and hopefully they will help.  Hope you get used to the new cushion covers.
Great your Dad has an appointment for 2nd Jab.

    Take care all.

Well done leanfun on the win.Must be handbag month with us both winning one lol. Great tip about relaxing your arm for the jab. I will try to remember that when I have my 2nd one, whenever that is.

It won't take long to get used to walking on the other side Duncan, you just have to persevere. Try to think of your dad doing his exercises as good. He could do them at home then you may not get out for so many walks, so it's better he does them when your out.

Work was ok yesterday but some of the staff have foul mouths, maybe it's just me that doesn't like swearing. lol. They are great carers but all worn out with work. They seem to have more agency there than permanent workers but they have been told they can't have any more staff as have their quota. They asked me if I wanted a shift today but I declined. I need a couple of days off now to recover.
I put an Iceland order in this morning and it should be delivered in the morning, a sign more shops are open now. I dropped DS's GF off at work this morning and expected a queue but there wasn't any and she said there hasn't been a queue since shops opened again either.
    anyway, time for a coffee,
hope you all have a good day
    Stay safe

Thanks Indie are win.  I thought the same as you about us both winning bags.    Feel like you about swearing.   Great that they are good workers but really sad that so many are overworked.  It’s such a shame and frustrating for them.  Yes, we have been able book next day Iceland deliveries too.

Some good news.  Was able to get through to the GP surgery straight away.  They have given DH an appointment for 14th May at the centre he had the first jab.  When he went there two weeks ago they told him that was when they next had Pfizer vaccine.  So we know it’s going to be the right one.  Receptionist said they had spoken to the doctor and the long wait was ok.   Not much else we can do as we have tried all the centres near us and they only have plenty of the Oxford vaccine.

    Enjoy the sun.

PS    FireFly we had a coffee out in garden and saw a crow next door so that’s put paid to our little Robin and sparrows visiting in the garden.  Hope it disappears soon and they return.  Lack of rain means the forsythia is only just dying off.  I think this is the longest I can remember it flowering usually the wind and rain destroy it.  We also have loads of lovely kerria out there Ho and forget me nots.  Hope you are able to enjoy the garden where you are and no crows about.

    Good Morning.

Rain here for the first day in a while so cue all the complaints about the weather when we are out today, seems that most people don't remember the 2 weeks of dry weather and are happiest when complaining about the rain.

Well done on the hanbag win leanfun, do people still use handbags?

Dentist won't answer their phone, they just keep playing a tape saying that 'you are in a queue please hole or call back later' and no matter how long you hold or how many times you call back, they never answer :rage: Dad has a broken tooth where the bridge was and now the root inside the gum has broken but wont come out and he is not sure if there is more inside the socket.
It all seems to be going wrong at the moment for dad, he is starting to wonder if it is worth it.

    Take care

    Morning sunny here.

Duncan agree with you about weather complaints.  We have enjoyed two weeks of no rain and lots of sunshine.

Thanks re handbag.   I entered the comp with my sister in mind.  She will love a new handbag especially as it’s blue and will use it.   Me I have two hand bags ho and a really old one.   I won a lovely satchel a few years ago and that comes out sometimes but normally I go out with no hand back or occasionally my rucksack.

Duncan’s Dad toothache is something else.   I know how it must be getting through to the dentist we have spent hours in the last weeks getting through to the doctors it’s so frustrating.  We have found we are more likely to get an answer between 3pm and 5pm or before closing time.  Who knows.    You definitely need some help.  If you can’t get a reply from the dentist and you have a walk in health centre near you I would go there you need some help with it.   Hope you get through soon.  Thinking of you hang in there.

    Take care.
