A sadness that so many OS stalwarts aren't here now isn't it?

scottishminnie said:It’s not just the new format ( which I hate with a passion). I had a number of PMs from a “new user” referring to me as scum, pointing out I owned more than one property and that I was everything that was wrong with MSE and was making a fool of everyone else. Worryingly they they had trawled through ancient posts and had a profile of me that was so accurate it freaked me out. I reported them to MSE but they simply set up new accounts once they were censored and carried on. In the end I decided to read but only post occasionally. I have the greatest of respect for many regulars but the online bullying which MSE will not address led me to stay away.Sadly, I don’t think I’m alone. It must have been awful for you.Just to say that I've read a similar post somewhere else and I think that MSE are working on posters being able to turn off PMs.Topher said:Jojo_the_Tightfisted said:All the MSE emails had been identified as Spam. Unsurprisingly, seeing as the switchover had set up emails to notify users of every single reply on every single thread they had ever posted on, not just the ones they had subscribed on - going by the vast quantities of the things lurking in the Spam bin over the past week.Me too for the first day. Have you turned them off now?cherie987 said:I ended up changing my user name too. I didn't want to do that because I didn't want to be a newbie on here as I've been using this forum for years. This is probably my first post using my new name - I don't like the new forum a lot.

SM so distressing to read your experiences on the OS threads, I'd wondered for some time how life was treating you and now understand why you've been quiet. It's very sad that people who have no real knowledge of a person or their background can take it upon themselves to target and vilify that person in private and not be taken to task by the people running the forums and removed from them for good. It's bad enough dealing with the nastiness when it's posted here in the open but at least it's there for all to see, PMs though and it's a whole different ball game and must be very frightening.
Hope all is well with you and the family love xxx.

It would be a sadness if mse was no longer here but not the end of my world I've come to realise. I hope the folks running these forums come to the realisation that without posters they won't have the online presence they have now and if enough people do decide for whatever reason that enough is enough then they will leave.7

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?8 -
!!!!!! - I've started getting the emails now - must have happened when I tried bookmarking a couple of threads

While fixing (I hope) that, I tried editing my profile to make Sheffield as my activity (whatever that's supposed to be) because location is really useful on the greenfingerered threads - or anyone any better ideas ?

Hi unrecordings. Given that you seem to be engaged in the same battles as me to get to grips with the new site, any hints you can pass on about how to put in an avatar of a picture you want? I'm one of the members who uses an old style apple i-pad, therefore can only see these pages by having JavaScript turned off. To turn it on to thank people means a six step series of actions, hence my lack of thanks by clicking buttons.5
