A sadness that so many OS stalwarts aren't here now isn't it?

Basically Every software Developer says it, its all about the 18 month cycle, 'Sorry this App doesn't support Android' 6/7/8,  Anyone with an android 7 upgraded to 8 the day they got it can't upgrade to version 9 and all the apps will soon follow.
Even Whatsapp is about to say good buy to iPhone 7 users. "iPhone 7 Discontinued‎: ‎September 10, 2019; 4 months ago"  So anyone that just got that phone now has a lemon and its Only 3.4 years old

Then isn't your complaint about phone companies rather than MSE?

There appears to have been no real testing before it was launched.  If you use Internet Explorer (and a lot of people do), then the text overlaps and can't be read.  In my mind that is something that was quite basic to check.
But agree, they have lost a lot of functionality, and I find myself using it less as a result.
