A sadness that so many OS stalwarts aren't here now isn't it?

I'm using the forum on my laptop, using Chrome, and I haven't got any white space to the right. I have a blue background with Martin's blog etc on it.6

I miss a lot of the regulars too, but I suppose the changes were in part to make the forum more phone-friendly - I use a desktop computer so have not been as affected, but noticed that an older browser that I used to access the "green skin" version of the site no longer works with the new one. I'm learning to live with the new version, but not without a few pangs of regret for the older one.6

By far the biggest problem I have is the amount of bright white background in the very areas that have to be concentrated on to read and understand posts. Simply gives me both eyeache and a headache, so surfing is out of the question for more than a few minutes.
If each post's text was on the blue background and the other gubbins on the white I would find it much more user friendly!6 -

Given that this is a free site, the team won't have known what users will be accessing it with - and the chances are that the software doesn't support older/more esoteric OS & browsers, so they're working with the information as it comes in and prioritising. I work for a software company, and we're very clear in our contracts that we only support certain hardware/software configurations and generally software supported is maximum of n-2 from the current version (and only if that is still supported by the vendor). For example, customers running Windows 7 know that we no longer support it and will reject faults raised if that's what they're running.4 -
I have no idea why only half my post shows above:
It might be worth posting this on the site feedback, which is where the forum team are most likely to be looking for feedback. There is a list of what they're working on short/medium/long term on the snagging thread. It's also worth specifying what you're reading on - including operating system and browser and whether you have any visual impairments as there are plenty of people (like me and apparently ivyleaf) who aren't having issues with colour/brightness. I have a blue/grey background, some dark teal header bars/sidebars, and a not particularly bright white background to text.

If you go to your profile (click on the silhouette next to your username) then you can edit profile. Unclick some or all of the preferences then you should stop the PMs. What irritated me was that I'd never opted for them in the first place. Mse had decided for me and filled my email inbox with stuff I didn't want.
Sorted now, thank you!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.4 -

For example, on my phone there are no dates or times on the messages.
I find this odd as desktops are probably the least used devices for accessing the internet.

Nowadays, most of the time I simply don't have the energy to put together a coherent post. The forum change is just another bit of hassle - I haven't yet found out how to disable PMs, which I'd done on the old forum, or even if it's possible.
Like you, I got masses of PMs last week, every time someone posted on one of my bookmarks (aka subscribed threads).
