How would you assess my very first buy and negotiation skills

Damn, I miss the :rotfl icon.2

Your allusions to some kind of incredible skill that enabled you to negotiate a price of 15k over asking are brilliant. Why ask what a public forum thinks of your negotiating (or lack of) and then respond with “well, actually, there were secret and wonderful skills going on that you aren’t aware of and I’m not going to tell you, so you can’t judge”.7

There seems to be some 'secret' aspect to your dealings that you are very pleased with but don't want to disclose. How on earth can anyone give you feedback?
What you have disclosed is buying earlier than planned for well over asking price as directed by the agent - in isolation that doesn't sound like a negotiation.
All that really matters is that you (and the vendor) are happy with the deal (most likely to conclude if both parties are happy) and for practical purposes that the valuation stacks up for the mortgage.
If you're happy, we're happy

Why do you guys purposely ignore the fact that there were 9 other offers on the table that I competed against. Yes, that's just what the agent said, however, I was not born yesterday and as I said I have been doing viewings for the past 3 months. So lets assume the facts are true, 9 other offers, some higher than mine, some chain-free. The property stood out before me even knowing there was a high interest. I booked the viewing the same day without knowing that I would have missed it otherwise.0

Not sure about your "negotiating" skills, OP but your entertainment value is... Not that bad? Few threads will ever stack up to the classics such as the Great Dane in a bag for life (as if there has ever been such a bag sufficiently large!) or, for me, the pillar/post thread. <Sighs> Them *we're't days. (*Spelling?)
Does anyone know how to find those on this new, unimproved forum?6 -
I don’t know Smodlet but I’d be glad of a read if you find it!OP, I don’t think anyone doubts there were some other offers. You’re basing how many on the word of an EA. And you didn’t really DO anything to be the lucky one picked so I’m not sure that is relevant? I’d assume the higher offers were in a chain, and the chain free were lower offers, simple. The luck of being both chain free and willing to go miles over asking 🤷🏻♀️2

Oh well, that 3 months changes everything. You are clearly an expert in the field.g000444555 said:Why do you guys purposely ignore the fact that there were 9 other offers on the table that I competed against.
