Morning all 🤓
Another day another storm *sigh* I do hope this one behaves itself.
I have tidyed the last £5.92 of the variable spends money out the main account before payday. All that is left is £49.00 to cover the last DD's and haircuts.
Next month I'm hoping to have a week's Variable spending left at this stage but we will see.
Anyhoo work awaits so catch you all later TTFN xDedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

Good morning diary and friends 👋
Forgive the shouting but ITS PAYDAY!!
I have already allocated all the pots in YNAB so don't have to transfer it to a holding account this month. Apart from this week's grocery etc money it is all for use after the 1st so quite happy about that.
The sinking funds pots account has took a hit the past couple of months as we have paid out a few things in full like car insurance. The service and mot and of course prime. This will be topped up 1st but will be drawn on again with the house insurance due by 1st April. After Mar we should hopefully have a few lighter spend months to get it topped back up again.
Premium bonds currently stand at £325.00 and we are hoping to put another £300 next month but need to wait until after the mot just incase it needs any work. We are putting away for car maintenance in the sinking funds but need to build this up a bit.
Finally I just need to spare a thought for those poor people in Ukraine who's lives have been ripped apart by that evil man. It will be an utter waste of human life on all sides and I wish us humans would learn to behave.Dedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

Shhhhhh MF…some of us are waiting with gritted teeth for Monday 😢 (but congratulations anyway 😬).
Well done on the pots, paying in advance and all that saving…gold star ⭐️
I agree about the Ukraine, I can hardly watch. It seems as soon as one invader settles down another one stands up….humans are the worst! Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Saving is very hard WW. To think it's took me to late forties to learn how to be a grown up! I have purchased a very nice denim pinafore in protest to retain some of my childhood 😁 I already own dungarees made by me I might add so maybe I need a romper next 🤣🤣🤣Dedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

Happy payday. What’s a sinking fund, is it something you dip in and out of?It’s truly dire about the Ukraine, what a 🤬man.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Sinking funds are where you have a savings pot for those annual or ad-hoc expenses such as insurances.
I think the term sinking comes from people who build it up then spend from it hence it sinks.
It's different from general savings as it's for things that you know are coming each year or whenever.
I'm not good with explanations so apologize if I'm not making sense. It's just a way of putting by for those ad-hoc but regular things outside of the weekly budget
