I never got any warnings at all so how can that be my faultHow is it my fault they now want people to change passwords and tough look if you do longer use you old email address when you first signed in yonks ago and never receive a warning because you you stated you get a pop up or when you log out, if you have a pop up blocker and a lot of people have or you dont log out I am at fault in your eyesspadoosh said:CharlieBilly said:spadoosh said:CharlieBilly said:Took my ages to remember what email address I signed up even though I know my login details and password correctly as I use roboform. What if people have stopped using there old email address they wont be able to login?
For those who are unable to login using an email address that doesnt exist anymore id suggest sign up as a new user using whatever email address they currently use.
I never saw any warning but haven't been on for a few weeks. Surely it would be easier to just let people use there old login details dont see the need to do this
Sorry just realised you had posted in the quoted sections. Im not defensive. You asked a question, i answered it. Then you made what appears to be an ignorant statement. 'Surely its easier' and imassuming you dont have the first clue about hosting forums and migrating them.
They had a pop up for months. There was a sticky at the top of every subforum. What are you expecting MSE to do, send out emails to addresses that havent been updated? Maybe post a letter to an address that they dont know? Or maybe send them a message to a phone number they dont know? National advertising campaign?
Im not saying youre at fault. Youre the one saying MSE is as fault. What could they have done more?2 -
Can't hover over posts to see text now
Also doesn't seem to show anything as being read. Used to fade once opened. I'll be going round in circles on the property board, not knowing if I've read a post or not.
[One issue sorted with posts fitting into boxes.]
Can't jump to last comment on a post from forum list.
Doesn't seem to show I've commented on a thread from the forum list of threads. Just takes off the 'new' symbol. Not great.
As above, the comp board is a nightmare without being able to click the crosses. Not only can I not see by hovering if I want to enter or not, but I can't even cross it. It's like going back 5 years. I'll have to open each comp to reject so I know to ignore it next time.
Not sure if all just teething probs or if permanent. Bloody hope not the latter
Thanks

victor2 said:As already mentioned somewhere, you can only edit a post once. Also, the edit screen shows different line spacing to the posted item. Much fewer emojis too!I also used to collopse some sections of the forum in my home page and it would remember those settings. It doesn't now.Note:Edited this once, won't be able to again I suppose.3

Please can we have a way of ordering search results in advanced search. I used to sort by number of views to get to competitions with a large amount of interest (ie probably a high value prize). The number of views isn't currently visible in search results at all.
Also, it would be helpful to have the preview of the first post in thread when hovering over title, as this would often give you enough info to decide whether to open the thread.

Is there a way to jump directly to the most recent post in a thread, without having to open the thread, click on the last page then scroll down?

Two urgent points, overlapping a bit
1. Please turn off by default all forum automatic email notifications for everything that happens. I've received about 50 so far, from a new rank to new replies on threads I posted on months ago.
If you don't do this, the people who are a bit slow to find their way to turning them off individually (see my note 2 below) might have received several hundred or even thousands of emails by the end of today as the place gets busier as people come back.
This might overload not only some individuals' email systems, but must also be a huge load on MSE's outgoing email server
2. The user profile could do with a complete redesign
We get to it from either a Profile icon at page top right, or pressing our username on a thread. This is OK.
There are a couple of dozen (some people may have even more) huge icons for forum badges, so you have to scroll down below that junk to get almost anything more useful
The most useful bits (one exception) are right down the bottom of the page - activity, notifications, moderation, threads, replies, inbox
Please move this to the top.
Replies is one's own posts, which may be quite useful to some.
Notifications, OK, but there isn't a link there to edit the settings
This is instead - scroll back up the page and find Edit profile, and the notifications settings are in there, which I've just managed to alter so I won't get hundreds of emails a day from now on.
Again to save all of us having this learning process, and email flooding, notifications off by default please

Reply in a thread, and it doesn't automatically bookmark/notify of new replies...?
That's going to massively cut down on participation.4
