michaels said:I must be a bit on the spectrum too - I did a calculation based on the govt CV model report and came up with a big number and have been told off for posting it. Apparently we can't handle the truth. Its not "we" can't handle the truth it is vulnerable adults like me that are battling severe depression and anxiety who are doing shielding themselves from negative news that can't handle the truth.I have had severe suicidal depression before around 20 years ago and I had to stop reading or watching the news then because anything negative just feeds into it. It is 5.32 am and I can't sleep because I have the depression sleep pattern. I am going to do some mindfulness in a minute. I have taken medication to calm me down but it can only do so much to control this. I am extremely unwell at the moment and there are a lot of people who are suffering from mental illness at the moment. I am on the Nice People thread to get away from the situation and just to read what people are doing not to get a huge dose of negativity to feed into what my brain is doing on its own. Please remember the vulnerable in our society.7

It is showing signs of getting light now. If I had wanted to listen to spring dawn chorus this is when I would have needed to get up.

Doozergirl said:I got an email this morning from our estate asking if we'd be prepared to complete on our house sale next week. I said I would like a week between exchange and completion. After today, I'd be prepared to go the day after next. I hope to God that no one in our chain is in the leisure/arts industry and that they're all still keen.It will make our lives much more secure. Everything we own is invested in our half built new house behind this one. There is no slack.
I hope this works out just fine for you. You seem to have my high quality bad timing for things. I don't think that is due to autism just Sod's law.

Today my car is being serviced and MoT'd. I will be taking it, of course... but I also will not become distressed if I get there and either the mechanic has stayed at home or the workshop shut. I expect the business to still be open, but individual mechanics might be isolating as they're vulnerable. I am mentally prepared for that, so I don't have a meltdown in the showroom.... but will simply give it some British stiff upper lip. As it actually runs out tomorrow, that'd be it for me and transport. I'd have to SORN it.
Odds are on my side as most men, especially working in a garage environment, will be "lads" and hardy and laugh it off at the moment - and even if they had a screaming row with the wife last night about going into work they'd still be there today most likely.
This could be lucky timing ... or I could wish I'd booked it in two weeks ago.
If it passes ... on the way home I'll give the tank a quick £20... I'll have little need for fuel in the coming weeks, so no point filling up. I expect the shops to be panic mobbed.... in fact, I will build an extra 2 hours into my time to get to the garage... it's only six miles away, but all busy/main roads ... and it's critical that I do everything in my power to get the car to the garage on time. Due there 1.45, I'll be loitering in a side road by 12ish.5 -
I had actually booked into this closer garage on the basis of "Oh - and I've never plodded round that area before, so I'll plod round it and might find myself in the research centre library to kill the time". Instead of strolling around an area, sizing it up for housing .... I will be wandering the streets keeping away from people... just wandering and plodding outside (hope it doesn't rain/pack £1 umbrella I bought the other day). I'd rather plod alone, cold, possibly wet .... than go inside a library.
It's a very industrial/commercial area ... if I were 40 years younger I might look like I was looking for business.7 -
Cakeguts don't read this...
Oh gawd. I thought I had it covered. Leave plenty of time to get to the garage in case of panic traffic stockpiling from the supermarkets.... instead, there's somebody on the bridge threatening to jump off and all the major roads are in shut down at that point. It's just above where the garage is, so all traffic will be diverted south, past the garage...
The entire bypass to the north of this major town has been shut down. Everything's gridlocked for a 10 mile radius, if FB is to be believed... I'll check the live google traffic maps.
Yep no way from here to there, in any direction, by any route, unless walking.... can't walk to an MoT. If I could, that's what I'd have done.6 -
Well I have no idea what to do. I am most definitely in the risk group so being advised to hunker down for the next 3 months but I am concerned about money. I'm not sick, so no sick note and consequently no SSP or ESA and I can't work from home.
God knows what I will do now.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.7 -
OH is in a panic for work, he works for a company that supplies hotels and restaurants. He is usually laid back, but this has got him in a state. He also can't work out if he is in the at risk group or not. The broad definition is anyone offered the flu jab, but the detail says people with heart disease and while he did have a heart stent fitted, he is now in a good way with no underlying issues.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Don't quote, will edit.
Things you don't want to overhear... my room is adjacent to the kitchen, an original loo was retained off the kitchen when my room (full width rear extension) was built. That loo is ... utterly cluttered and filled with hoarder-like things. I've been told I can use that loo (I have an en-suite). I've never used it, why would I even if it were pristine.
That loo doesn't get used; she's got a bathroom upstairs.... it's been used twice since I've been here, when her bf is in the kitchen with her. I can hear everything in the loo and the kitchen. If a packet of crisps is picked up in the kitchen I know it.
So ... I heard her go to the loo in there.... she was in there awhile. Once completed, she washed her hands.... in the kitchen sink!!!5
